On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Muslim settlers damaged and desecrated the Buddha images.

Bangladesh army torture and rape indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Mohalchari

On 23 February 1986, Bangladesh army from Guimara Zone carried out a military operation at Korolya Chari and Jogonatuli in Mohalchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army conducted house to house searches, detained indigenous Chakma Buddhists and interrogated them with torture and electrocution. Even a seventy year old man was beaten by them. Bangladesh army raped an indigenous girl. The victims are:

  1. Nakkua Dhan Chakma (65) of Korolyachari, Mohalchari. BD Army severely beat him.
  2. Miss. Laxmi Devi Chakma (20), daughter of Nakkua Dhan Chakma of Korolyachari, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army gang raped her infront of her father.
  3. Chinta Mohan Chakma (34), son of Surya Sen Chakma of Korolyachari, Mohalchari.
  4. Vijay Singh Chakma (35), son of Dilip Kumar Chakma of Jogonatuli, Mohalchari.
  5. Saroda Charan Chakma (68), son of Namra Charan Chakma of Jogonatuli, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army arrested him at his farm and tortured him for a day and night.
  6. Biraj Mohan Chakma (47), son of Amru Chakma of Jogonatuli, Mohalchari.
  7. Chiyona Chakma (70), son of Kinaram Chakma of Jogonatuli, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army beat him until he became senseless.
  8. Chandra Lal Dewan (48), son of Mon Mohan Dewan of Jogonatuli, Mohalchari.
