Indigenous victims of Sajek Muslim attack

On 20 April 2008 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked and burnt down 76 indigenous Buddhist houses in Sajek. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhist villagers and grab their land. The indigenous Chakma Buddhists and their burnt down houses after the attack.


Bangladesh army burn down 2 indigenous Buddhist villages in Laxmichari

On 27 January 1986, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade burnt down the houses of Suknachari village in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. On 28th January 1986, the same army unit completely burnt down 2 indigenous Buddhist villages Suknachari and Dhurung Para to ashes. The same month 5 houses in Durchari and 5 houses in Gobomara Langel villages situated on the hill range between Naniachar and Laxmichari were burnt down. The victims whose houses were burnt down are:

  1. Bangalya Mahajan Chakma (46) of Nabhanga Adam, Laxmichari. Bangladesh army robbed his house and then burnt down to ashes.
  2. Surat Bihari Khisa (47), son of Surendra Nath Khisa of Khularam Para, Mohalchari.
  3. Shanti Baran Chakma (38), of Khularam Para, Mohalchari.
