On 30 May 2012 Bangladesh police and Muslim settlers raided indigenous Buddhist villages of Howaikyong area under Teknaf in Cox’s Bazaar. In this attack 12 Chakma villagers were severely wounded. 7 Chakma villagers including 4 minors were arrested without warrant. One pregnant woman prematurely gave birth to a baby due to torture and several women were sexually harassed.
Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala
On 9 August 1985, Bangladesh army from Dighinala Cantonment surrounded indigenous Buddhist village Baghaichari Adam in Dighinala, Khagrachari district at 4 a.m. Bangladesh army carried out house to house search for Shanti Bahini. Many indigenous people were subjected to torture and merciless beating. The victims are:
Chandra Raj Chakma (25), son of Sadhon Chakma. He was beaten.
Bibhuti Ranjan Chakma (20), son of Nripendra Lal Chakma. He was hung upside down and mercilessly beaten.
Arabindu Chakma (24), son of Tapita Chakma. He was subjected to inhuman physical torture.
Kripadhon Chakma (26), son of Purna Chandra Chakma. He was beaten till he lost consciousness.
Shantimoy Chakma (13), son of Chalkha Chakma. He was beaten.
Bira Sur Chakma (30), son of Surath Chandra Chakma. He was brutally beaten and tortured.
