On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh Rifles torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Baghaichari

On 13 July 1985, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) from Marishya Camp beat and tortured an indigenous Chakma Buddhist at Karengatali market in Baghaichari, Rangamati district. BDR beat and tortured him as he refused to pay bribe to the BDR personnels while selling his bamboos. The victim is:

  1. Priya Ranjan Chakma (45), son of late Kamala Kanta Chakma of Golachari, Baghaichari.

On the same day BDR beat and tortured Nayan Kanti Chakma (22) of Jhagra Bil, Baghaichari for refusing to supply wine and indigenous women to the BDR personnel of Marishya Camp.
