On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Muslim settlers damaged and desecrated the Buddha images.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 22 June 1985, Bangladesh Army of 305 Brigade from Thalchara Army Camp launched a military operation at Thalchara in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation Bangladesh army beat, robbed indigenous people and set ablaze indigenous homes. The victims are:

  1. Viranga Muni Chakma, son of Sumangal Chakma of Thalchara, Naniachar. Bangladesh army robbed and set his house on fire.
  2. Dhirendra Chakma, son of Kalikanta Chakma of Thalchara, Naniachar. Bangladesh army robbed and set his house on fire.
  3. Biraj Chandra Chakma of Thalchara, Naniachar. He also had the same fate as mentioned above.
