On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. The settlers destroyed many indigenous houses and Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Indigenous Chakma boys in grief after the attack.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On l4 January 1985, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Rangamati attacked the inhabitants of Mora Chengi in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the raid, Bangladesh army beat many indigenous Chakma Buddhists. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Anadi Ranjan Chakma (34), son of Mr. Ananda Mohan Chakma. Bangladesh army arrested him and asked him if he knew anything about the Shanti Bahini guerrillas. When he replied negatively, he was beaten with a bamboo stick until he fell unconscious.
  2. Mr. Manu Ram Chakma (22). Bangladesh army severely beat him.
  3. Mr. Surya Mohan Chakma (70). Bangladesh army ordered him to submit a list of Shanti Bahini members. As he could not submit a list, he was severely beaten and ordered to report to the camp every Saturday.
