On 19 December 1986, Bangladesh army men gang raped Rita Chakma (13) of Nuaram Karbari Para, Dighinala. About 20 Bangladesh army personnel from the Viswa Ram Karbari Para army camp of Dighinala raided the indigenous Buddhist village of Nuaram Karbari Para in the morning. All the male inhabitants of the village were taken by force to cut the jungle surrounding the army camp. Bangladesh army encircled the village at 11:00 a.m. and on the pretext of searching entered the houses. Bangladesh army stripped all the women and the girls who were in their houses, and gang raped. Even the minors were not spared.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 22 November 1984, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Thalchara Army Camp attacked Firingya Para village in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the attack, Bangladesh army rapded and tortured indigenous people. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Nikunga Bihari Chakma (45). BD army attacked his hom at 3 a.m. and took all members of his family to Naniachar High School. BD army ordered him to get his daughter Miss Sabina Chakma (20) married to anyone other than the members of the Shanti Bahini within 7 days. BD army beat him, his wife and his children.
  2. Mr. Jyotsna Kanti Chakma (36). BD army stepped on his chest and gave him blows. 4 BD army men gang raped his wife. He was taken to the camp and kept in a cage for 15 days.
