Sujata Chakma
On 9 May 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers raped and killed an indigenous Buddhist girl Miss. Sujata Chakma (11) daughter of late Mr. Jyotish Chandra Chakma and Ms. Mongala Devi Chakma of Ultachari area of Atarakchara union under Longadu sub-district in Rangamati district. The victim was a student of year 4 of Ultachari Government Primary School. Muslim settlers killed the girl by mutilating on the neck with a sharp weapon.

Bangladesh army rape indigenous Buddhist women in Naniachar

On 1 October 1984, Bangladesh army of 305th Brigade from Thalchara army camp attacked Mora Chengi village in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the raid, Bangladesh army robbed, tortured and extorted indigenous villagers, raped indigenous women and burnt down their houses. The victims are:

  • Mr. Ranjit Singha Chakma (29). Bangladesh army extorted cash Taka 500.00 from him and took away one bullock by force.
  • Mr. Naramya Chakma (31). Bangladesh army beat him until he became unconscious and stole 4 fowls.
  • Mr. Dhirendra Chakma (45). Bangladesh army extorted cash Taka 1,000.00, severely beat him, and slaughtered his 2 goats and 3 fowls without payment for their meals.
  • Mr. Beauty Ranjan Chakma (27). Bangladesh army robbed gold ornaments worth Taka 15,000.00, beat all members of his family, raped his wife, and stole 10 fowls.
  • Mr. Bana Bihari Chakma (39). Bangladesh army set his house on fire burning all his properties.
  • Mr. Kalachan Chakma (56). Bangladesh army took away 3 fowls and bananas without payment and ordered him to leave the village immediately.
  • Mr. Rada Mohan Chakma (60). Bangladesh army ate 30 ripe pawpaws without payment, robbed 20 kilograms of fine rice and told him that this kind of fruit and food should always be kept ready for the army.
  • Mr. Anand Mohan Karbari (53). Bangladesh army robbed a Citizen brand wrist-watch worth Taka 1,300.00, shot dead 2 pigs worth Taka 1,900.00 and told him that they would come again.
  • Mr. Karna Sen Chakma (48). Bangladesh army extorted cash Taka 500.00, ate his ripe bananas without payment, and and took away 3 fowls by force.
  • Mr. Golak Bazi Chakma (46). Bangladesh army mercilessly beat him.
  • Mr. Nanadhon Karbari (85). Bangladesh army robbed 2 goats, 80 kilograms of rice, and his wife's clothings, forced the villagers to carry the booty to the army camp, and told him that the problem of the Chittagong Hill Tracts could be solved only by this method.
  • Mr. Bimal Kanti Chakma (46). Bangladesh army tied him on a tree upside down, severely beat him, stole 1 fowl, and ordered him to leave the village and to go to India.
  • Mr. Kamal Sukh Chakma (37). Bangladesh army compelled him to give 40 kilograms of potatoes and other vegetable free of cost and to carry these things to the army camp, and told him that if he could not provide them with free supplies then he would have to go to India.
  • Mr. Chitta Ranjan Chakma (30). Bangladesh army tortured him, made him to lie down, stepped on his chest, and poured water through the nose and mouth until he became unconscious.
  • Mr. Prabodh Chandra Chakma (52). Bangladesh army lured him with financial help and freedom from all kinds of physical torture and oppression if he embraced Islam. When he reported this incident to the army camp he was abused with filthy language. Now he lives in serious mental agonies as the army is trying to Islamise the indigenous people.
  • Mr. Dinesh Chandra Talukder (56). Bangladesh army robbed 3 goats, 5 fowls and a three-band radio.
  • Mr. Bel Chandra Chakma (95). Bangladesh army stole 4 fowls, and shot dead a pig worth Taka 1,000.00.
  • Mr. Nayan Ranjan Chakma (34). Bangladesh army robbed 1 cow and 2 fowls, raped his wife in front of him, and told him that the right of self-determination for the Chittagong Hill Tracts would be given in this manner. The matter was reported to the army camp but with no result.
