Sindy was launched in the USA in 1978 by Marx Toys Ltd as a rival to Barbie.
Alongside Sindy, a range of 7 outifts and various scenesetters were available plus a black friend for Sindy named Gayle (something that was never - if ever - widely available in the UK).

Outfits
Many of the outfits had already been released in the UK but were named differently:
Let’s go to the ballet - the pink and white ballet outfit available on the UK ballerina dolls.
Let’s go riding - red jumper, cream jodphurs, black boots, riding hat and crop (released in the UK in 1977 as ‘Riding Out’)
Let’s get our beauty sleep - a blue nightdress, with long blue lace negligee (released in UK in 1977 as ‘Misty Blue’)
Let’s have a dinner party - a cream halter neck gown and long brown evening coat (released in UK in 1977 as ‘Night Spot’)
Let’s go shopping - a bright yellow trouser suit with brown shoes and shoulder bag (released in UK in 1977 as ‘Sunshine Girl’)
Let’s take it easy - a mix ‘n’ match outfit with red flares, a blue skirt and a white T shirt with Sindy’s name on the front (I think this was released in UK in 1977 with the ‘Weekender’ doll)
Let’s get married - A wedding dress with floor length veil (not sure if this was released in UK?)
Scenesetters:
Many of the scenesetter furniture items had been released in the UK, but some changes were made for the American markets.
The yellow bathroom became turquoise for the US, but for some reason, the toilet was never sold there (???).
The kitchen had a double-door refrigerator added (a UK version wasn’t released until 1984).
The settee and chair designs were changed and became known as loveseat and arm chair.
