The Hardin Report

In 2000, Jorie Graham gave her Harvard
Colleague Peter Sacks, the University of
Georgia Press Prize for Poetry. Within two years,
they were married.

In any other Academic Field, a Professor who
serves as a Judge for a "blind" National
Competition and awards her own Colleague the
Prize would face charges of fixing the
contest. Futhermore, since the contest charges
twenty dollars for an entry fee the University
of Georgia Press is Liable for Mail Fraud.
700-1000+ poets from around the country pay
the entry fee on the basis that their
manuscript will have a fair chance of winning.

Peter Sacks should have refused to accept the
Prize in light of the gross conflict of
interest. But he accepted it.

The Hardin Report is seeking comment from
Harvard University.
