This is what I like most finding hidden way beneath the mainstream metal! An awesome find of devastating & passionate to the evil ways of black metal! A mix of olden ways of raw with Ritualistic & summoning aura encompassing it, as if demons have awakened & rejoiced in the onslaught! Only two trax here & even with the not so perfect production in sound, but enough to crush me!!! I will not say that they sound like Rotting Christ nor Varathron nor Necromantia, but hearing this makes me remember the feelings when I heard the mentioned bands, dark, evil, un-compromising!!!! KORIHOR (Phils) / ABIGAIL (Japan) "Alkoholik Metal Blasphemers" - Split CD. Hells Headbangers. Two Black Metal bands from Asia. With a very blasphemous cover art that I'm glad did not get confiscated in the customs here! You are probably more familiar with the obscure BM of Abigail which has 8 tracks in this split. Korihor hails from the Davao, Philippines which I got to interview when I still call my zine "UnderWorld Zine". They have 4 tracks here which sounds are way better from their demo releases in the sense of production & clarity but I still find their previous demo more necro in assault with speed & rawness! 2 tracks are from their demo & the instrumental & their last trax is the first time I heard here. Nevertheless, it is quite evil to see them on a CD & along Abigail! Abigail's part on the other hand are not new materials too, as mentioned, 4 trax are from a 1992 rehearsal, but damned sounds good! CHARRIOTS ARRIVE AGAIN (International) - DoCDr Compilation. This comes with the "Shroud of Woe" fanzine. Some of the bands are interviewed here although this is from 2003 I just got this from WTP. The fanzine is an all-doom zine & of course the compilation too. This is a good example of being timeless! Although it will be probably a bit hard to get the releases, but probably not with the so many distros & labels out there. MAR DE GRISES "The Tatterdamalion Express" CD. Firebox Records. I think this band is from Brazil (oops.. just checked, they are from Chile!) but the label is from Finland. An great mix of traditional, progressive, elemental & obscure doom! Vocals is not your downright frightening shit but more emotional textured, metamorphosing each time, into their style. THE NECKBREAKERS BALL Promo-CD. Nuclear Blast Records. This has tracks of the bands who will play for this Neckbreakers ball tour 2006. First 3 tracks are from SCAR SYMMETRY, sounds heavy, like a rock band wanting to be metal, with gay popy vocals I can't take with some modern day growls! Next two trax from ONE MAN ARMY AND THE UNDEAD QUARTET (what a fucking long name eh!!!), generic speed death, doesn't cut through shit that I've heard so far. One track from AMORPHIS, a band I didn't seem to like even in their early years & some folks I know dislikes me for that (which I don't give a fcuk!), sounds very modern & people friendly here! One track from SOILWORK, groovy modern jumpy errr metal?? and the last from HYPOCRISY! This is the only thing I can digest from here as they are still doing their thing!! STEP ON IT / SCHMURTZ (Hungary / Belgium) - CDR Split release. DIY release from Morcvas of Belarus. This is from SCHMURTZ (as a trade) with their demo "Live vs Roomstudio" which is actually the same materials that they have here in the split. "Step On It" is crust-hc-punk-thrash, lots of speed & catchy moshing tunes and even air punching head banging interludes, with vocals & shouts buried in the music in a near splatter style. "Schmurtz" on the other hand is a one-man band of electro-noise-core or cyber-grind-noise! Not all tracks can be considered as music but all can be said as an extreme way of expressing thyself. This is like the cut-n-paste musical versions of a fanzine. Stitched up noise, samplings & music in a crazy-angst-power approach! One song with a middle eastern (or indian?) tune sampled into it, that seems to be familiar yet I can't remember why. All sung in french (I think?). The separate "Live vs Roomstudio" has no lyrics, but the split release, instead of lyrics, has explaination of how or what the song is about, and reading it confirms this has a huge punk attitude to it! "Step On It" has their lyrics printed and do have lots of sense on it. This will appeal more to punks, hc-crust-noise bangers out there! I.O.S.T. [Infested Organ versus Scrub Typus] (France) "Greetings from Tchernobyl" - CD. 19 tracks including two interlude and an outro. Self produced/released by the band. They labeled their style as "Schizo Death Grind for Open Minded People". Yes, quite true actually. But in the way I see a lot of metal heads drawing line separating sub-genres, this will be well accepted in the Grind side than its Death side, as I think, some do thread the line between. And those are the ones they call the open minded. At first look, this CD is like an enviro-socio-punk band. So, is the music a freak aftermath of the Tchernobyl? Not quite sure but it is an abnormal mix of melodies in grind & death metal style that seems pleasing to my psychosis. Crunchy, crusty at time, speedometer not at total hyperblast but with some catchy down beat groove. Vocals are in multitude but generally a female vocals that reminds me a lot of Lori of Nuclear Death, and the male a fairly early-death vocals plus the insane grind vox which some sounds like anyone else playing with his tounge in-and-out your mouth trying to piss someone off, and sometimes just plain pig sounding. This reminds me alot of Japanese crazy & insane grind & also of another insane grind also from France, Soldableurkthal (I hope I spelled that right!). The interludes here are sampling of what seems to be horror films in french, and the outro, the french version of "Punch Drunk Love" by Adam Sandler?@#%?. Definitely for lunatic grinders!!! And no lyrics included in this promo copy, not quite sure in the original cd, (this is an inserted comment: Zombijuju says the promo is the same as the Original..) but this do has description of what the song is talking about. NERVECELL (UAE) "Human Chaos" - CDr. 5 tracks. I bought this last december when I drag myself in a gig in Dubai. I think I arrived almost half of the gig is finished. It's a good thing this band is selling some of their stuff & other merch. I have heard & read a slight thing about this band, being a deathcore, but wtf, this is not deathcore!! This is Death-fucking-Metal, a mix of nydm & mid-paced crushing interludes which is far away of being influenced by finland! Solid & deep decipherable vocals that just fortifies the solid DM sound! Try to imagine bits & pieces & mixes of Suffocation, Incantation, Morta Skuld & Obscenity(Ger)..well, at least for me, that's what quickly comes to my fucked mind. REPTILIAN DEATH (India) "Total Annihilation" - CDR. 14 tracks including intro & a bonus track. This is more of a black-death, with a good sound production. It has some memorable parts and catchy thrash riffs, sometimes with dual vocal attacks. Although after half of good listening & headbanging, I was taken aback when I heard this talking intro about the nursery rhymes. I'm a bit pissed at it, but continue on listening. The music is quite good, it seems to have more speed riff and some catchy shit too than the first 7 tracks but the talking intro in between the tracks is a but pissfull! This lead me to read the inlay which does include lyrics, yes, it is a fucked or bastardized nursery rhymes. I don't know how to make out of this, fun-metal, comical-death, humour-black??? This is a bit childish for me really, but I have too say, they play good metal, but this really seems such childish acts for me. Although this is not the first bands that I experienced singing about nursery rhymes, I remember Nefarious(USA) from their 92 demo which has a song singing about humpy-dumpy too, I would definitely like to hear this band in a more serious composition, I guess I just have to edit out those tracks that I don't like. RESSURECTION "The Best Of Indian Extreme Metal" (India) - Compilation. Pro-CDr. Barcode Entertainment. Well, so far, yes, it is the best compilation I have heard from India!!! Different styles are featured here & do have a good production, even the live tracks from Myndsnare (which is not a track from their previous demo) & Kryptos!! The bands here are Demonic Ressurection (2 trax), Acrid Semblance, Exhumation (2 trax), IIIrd Sovereign, Kryptos (2 trax), Myndsnare (2 trax), Sharpnel, Reptilian Death, Narsil, Black Hole Theory, Demonstealer & Grey. From HM, thrash, death, brutal death, melodic death/black, hmmm...just let me tell which hit's me, I already experienced Myndsnare before, & Reptillean Death (see above!).. Exhumation for Brutal Deathster, Shrapnel for HM with epic touches & Black Hole Theory reminds me of Brujeria & Grey which says is a one man project but sound devilishly possessed black metal!!! SABBAT (Japan) "Sabbatical Holocaust " - CD. Time Before Time Records. This is a totally great release for me 'coz I don't really buy vinyls much & if I remember it right, it is totally hard to find this band's releases in my early years. Now, thanks to this label, all eps in vynils are here in one CD! Music in early to mid 80's of black heavy metal onslaught! Thrashing heavy metal in the dark & evil way! You can compare it Venom or today's Doomstone but this is Sabbat from Japan, and the musick is from mid-80's. This is total Devilishly cranked up heavy metal in pure form! Guitar samurai that cuts thru you like the razors! And the melody? All who have heavy metal dark soul will just fucking understand!!! If you can't find some of the damn eps, here is you fucking chance! Worship the altar of the Asian Cult of Black Heavy Metal!!! Kurushinda!!!

DECEASED (usa) "Return to the Evil Side" - CD. Cursed Productions. Probably one of the oldest & under-rated in the real under ground!! This is a re-release of their ultra-old demo from 1986 with the live recording in 1989. When Death metal is not confined in a fucking labelisation shit & any thing brutal as fuck can be spewed out!!! A no-holds-barred attack of Raw-unrelenting-dirty-Sick death metal!!! For those who are retrograding, or those who still have the lust or simply into passionately-sick-brutal-non compromising death metal!!! The inlay includes the story how the demo was conceived & spewed out into the underworld, both funny in a way & a truly inspiring u/g story!!! I remember my copy on the side of the demo of Vomiturition from Finland, yes, it came from that band, I haven't converted it to a CD, now, there is no need, just the vomituriotion side. And in bloody death how I grin in delight as I headbanged & growled along each track! This is indeed brutal, evil in olden ways, when death & the devil walks hand-in-hand playing the metal sound! WINDFALL (Greece) "Infector" - Cd. 2005. Sleazy Rider Records. This a varied mix of death metal, a mix of euro-death & US-death style. Good technical parts but not really inlfuential or catchy to me. Basically good where lots of metal style can be easily taken in account. Anyway, doesn't quite move me. A good technical release & to find this style coming from greece. Get this from Sleazy Rider.

RIGOR MORTIS (Texas) "Rigor Mortis" - Re-release of the first fucking brutal self titled album of horror-gore speed thrash!!! To those who have the old tape & have been listening to it all these filthy years, here is your chance to get a refill on that blood lust with 3 additional tracks, "Foaming At The Mouth" which was originally on the soundtrack of the Decline on Western Civilization 2, "Grudge Fuck" & "Spivey" which is mentioned to be previously unreleased for a good fucking reason! As I am very fucking glad to find some metal acts here in the UAE, I feel the same in finding this band on-line as I've been told life in KSA is a bit stricter than here. This is Brutal Death metal. DEATHLESS ANGUISH (KSA) "World Domination" - Demo 2004. 5 tracks also on MP3 downloadable from their site. This is more early-death, thrash-death and a bit thin in sound in comparison to their latest demo but is still a damn good listen & headbanging experience. Some wicked speed riffs & hooks here and there, double vokills occasionally attacks to complement the already brutal vocal onslaught. Some tracks even manages to conjure dark atmosphere in a non-gothic style. Yeah, come to think of it, this is blast! And for a solo or a one-man project for this first demo, fcuk!!! TERROR SQUAD (Japan) "The Wild Stream Of Eternal Sin" - CD 1999. The first release of World Chaos Production. I have read a lot of reviews of this and I need to taste the blood too! And I would say, I can't argue with those reviews. Total fucking thrashing violence!!! Straight in your face poser destroyer!!! And with manga style artwork inside the CD sleeve. Well thrash me over & fuck me again!! This is like a tight packed crossover Hatecore & speed violent thrash!! Anarcho Thrash!!! This just kills in headbanging frenzy!! ITALIAN EXPERIENCE VOL. 1 & 2 - Compilation CD's. No this is not a double CD release but 2 seperate releases in 1995, or 1996 or was that 1997? Fuck I forgot! . This is an all Italian Compilation, but of course that is very fucking obvious eh?!? This is a mix of rock, heavy metal & some punkier tunes, some with even a modern groove sounds, jumpy even. AGATHOCLES "Keep Mincing" - Tape. Speedrawk Records & Distribution. All music here are from the earliest recordings of this living legend grind or as they'd put it, mince core band! All are recorded from 1988!! Sound is brutally clear! And you'll get two recordings too, the studio recordings and a live recording taken from a gig in Belgium also in the year 1988. Nice thing about this, like their other releases, there are some explanations about the music & more. And as mentioned there, all this are previousy unreleased. AGATHOCLES "CD-Release party Superiority Overdose" - DVD. 2002 Tumult Productions. Mincing Overdose!! That's what this is!!! For cunts like me I think there will be no fucking chance in hell to see this band live so this is the next best thing!!! Buy loads of whiskey & beer, call on your friends, clear the space in front of the tv & have a head banging mosh frenzy!!!! The camera person or the probably in the editing stage have played with some camera tricks, ok but probably on the alcohol overdose stage it will be a bit dizzying. Although I have to say the crowd is not much of a moshers & bangers, like 2 to 5 are like banging way front of the stage! SIXFOURTWOFIVE (Philippines) "Deorum (Attack ov the Gods)" - CDR demo 2003 Deadstring Records. 7 tracks including intro/outro. This is forwarded by my wife as I am already out of the Philippines when it arrived. I am a bit surprised really, 'coz like a week before this arrived, my flat mate who lives in the same province is actually telling me that there are some group there that set-up gigs & even release recordings in their native language, he was like remembering his college days. Although he said it is mostly folk & rock. So I thought there will surely be a more extreme group there. And then, here is what I got. What the fuck are you gonna call that? This is Black Metal in multiform with tints of Death Metal, some heavy metal & thrashy hooks & some instrumental inserts. With a buried Black Vocals, they played it in traditional BM with the Thrash/Death overtone (Throne, Infernal Domination), a bit melodic, mid-paced BM (Into Thy Sword) & Fast Raw Black (Hordes & Neehenya) and the two abysmal sound-sculptures intro & outro (Alpha / Omega). Dismissing the interference hiss on some tacks, this is a damn good (I mean evil he he he) demo. But don't you think they have an odd name eh? THE HELLZ KITCHEN SHOW (Canada) "4 tracks advance sampler" - 2004 Metal Queen Management. I think this will be included in their new albuw which will be probably out by this year. This is modern heavy music. Heavy riff, heavy pounding drums, even some heavy electronica & heavy modern jumpy grooves. Vocals are a mix too, shouty & what ever this guys want. I wont argue on what I read about what this other guy branding the music as Carnival Rock. Although I will argue on associating this with Heavy Metal. For me, basically, I really don't like this. THE HELLZ KITCHEN SHOW (Canada) "Vox Populi Vox Dei" - 2002, Metal Queen Management. This is a bit different from their new stuff as this is less jumpy although a track has some djs scratching. The music here is like a psycho-indulgence-clowning around with the groove. I don't know man, like a psycho-trip-rock, Heavy-depression binge! I think this is better than the newer stuff 'coz it is a bit different or maybe I just need some prozak!!! Same Support above!

OVERLOAD (Greece) "Never Again" - CD, 2005 Sleaszy Rider Records. 10 tracks of classic rock sounding traditional metal. Very catchy hooks, melodic & memorable with sing along chorus! Even though this is a sit back & relax music for me it is quite good especially while drinking a really cold beer! And I even caught myself singing along in 'Never Again', 'Destiny Calls' and 'Midnight Warriors', and punching the air! And another plus is, my flat mates are not fucking complaining!!! NOCTA (Greece) "Wicked Woman" - CD, 2005 Sleaszy Rider Records. 13 tracks of slow rock, heavy metal with a darker touch! Slow to mid paced with some upbeat tempo, but general atmosphere is dark rock, sludge, metal, especially at the end of the CD. The vocals reminds me of Led Zep & the music is like a mix of Deep Purple, Black Sabath and Black Flag. Although this started with a more slow rock & catchy track "Wicked Woman", but slowly progresses into a stoner darker drift. "Werewolf" & "Samuel Atan" are the probably the best tracks for me and the final track, an instrumental metal ballad. This is another great release from Sleaszy Rider!

THE LUST (Russia) "My Dear Emptiness" - CD, 2005, Sleaszy Rider Records. 10 tracks (including intro & outro) of a mix of Goth Rock & Metal. I have nothing about Goth Rock just I'm not into it. This has some good metal parts especially the guitar works but it just doesn't hook to me and the vocals turns me off. It's like a teenager flirting on the mic, oh yeah she is 19! Sounds psychedelic though rather than gothic. It's not like those la la la high vocals or church chorus singer. Anyway, for Goth Rockers, Goth Metals out there!

ANCIENT "Det Glemte Riket" - CD, 2005 Sleaszy Rider Records. Fuck! This is Ancient for the Devils sake! This doesn't need any review! Well, anyway, this is a re-release of the 1999 album from Hammerheart (Now Karmagedon Media). For those who failed to get this previously this is your fucking chance, now, 8 tracks of original Ancient BM, plus an exclusive booklet (not included in the promo) & a cover track of Black Sabath. Of course all Black Metal heads will surely know this, to the new breeds who haven't, well, this CD is a good start as it showcases the different black metal styles that Ancient has spewed out. Some raw black to cold atmospheric grim black. For Black Metal maniax!!!

KINETIC (Greece) ".:THE::CHAINS::THAT::BINDS::US:." - CD, 2004. 10 trakcs & 1 video of one of the songs (Never Ending Winter) here. This is an awesome Kick ass thrashing, power tripping guitars & early death metal brutality! Yeah! Power Thrash Death Metal!!! It started with a suspence movie like intro and bang! It hits you like a fucking anvil in the head! Speed with swirling melody & tempo changes that just keeps you banging & thrashing! This release would both break your neck and bind you to metal!! Thrashers & metal heads into early death metal hell must fucking get this!!! (Read interview somewhere in this zine!)

PHANTOM LORD (Greece) "The Empyrean Fall" - CD, 2005 Sleaszy Rider Records. This band is already big in greece, I mean, headlining for Iron Maiden in their Greece leg of their world tour, fuck! Well, the music here is Power Metal, 11 tracks of majestic, melodic, anthemic & classical influenced. Great vocals , traditional high pitch which doesn't hurt the balls. This reminds me of Helloween, Blind Guardian & Iced Earth, and a track reminds a lot of Iron Maiden especially the riff, but of course, Phantom Lord has their originality.

FUNERAL REVOLT ( ) "The Perfect Sin" - CD 2005 Sleaszy Rider Records. This is quite different. They branded their style as Industrial Doom but I think Doom Electronica or Cyber Doom is more appropriate. A more modern approach, I guess, for our modern times. Although the mix of electronic touch somewhat gave it a more groovy melody than what usual doom offers. It is a bit hard to listen to it especially on the first & even the second spin, some tracks slowly sinks especially when they got the more traditional metal doom but I really have to say that some sounded like rave mixes! Now i'm a bit confused????

EMPYREAN (UAE) "Ancient Skies" - CDR, 2005. Self release. With the cover artwork the same as the artwork in the 1992 tape demo of Divine Eve's (Texas, USA) "The last of the sunset faded", this is 4 tracks of Melodic Death Metal with some power metal touch. The Finish Bodom sound influence is very noticeable yet they manage to make their own style. For a young band & a first demo release this is a very good release. With vocal mix of normal singing & the more black sounding hiss. The melodic parts, especially in the title track, sounds jazzy & a 'just jamming' feel which reminds me of Forgotten Silence. ARCHAIC GUILT (UAE) "A Clarion Silence" - CDR, 2004 Archaic Productions. Another great find here in the UAE and thanks to Pedro for meeting up! The sleeve has a couple of names of the souls behind this but Pedro told me this is actually a one man project of Zaid Al-Adham. This is 4 tracks of Dark Death Metal! Brutally textured in dark mysterious atmosphere. The shift of melodark passages to the blasting death and vice versa is done quite a cathcy memorable way. A normal singing voice is used sparringly and in a good way, but the solid decipherable death growl is a killer and no lyric sheet is necessary! The drum programming is remarkable too! Double bass pounding that just blast! Although the sound quality between the tracks changes but it doesn't really affect the brutality much. NEPHELIUM (UAE) "Ignite The Wrath of Silence" - cdr, 2005. I'm not really sure if this 2 track demo is officially released. I have asked Pedro about this band 'coz I haven't got chance to see them play in a gig that I went to last year. As of what I know they play Black Metal but now this is totally different! Mighty Hails again to Pedro for this! This is 2 brutal tracks of Death Fucking Metal! With titles 'Ignite the wrath of silence' & 'Merciless Annihilation', this is twisted in melodies with brooding unpredictability! Just two tracks that crushes my head banging!!! yeah I know, you always feel unsatisfied when you hear just a track or two from good bands you come across with, I hope more of this will come out from this band! MOURNFUL CONGREGATION (Australia) "The Monad of Creation" - Cd, 2005 Wierd Truth Production. I don't know if I can call this a MCD, with 4 tracks yet over 60 minutes of doom-metal-scapes! I'm not new to this congregation as they are featured in my 1st issue and I totally indulge in their double cd release also from WTP. Yet this is more textured in sorrow & melancholy. And like the previous release, this is released years after the music & lyrics are created (with in 1997 to 98) and with great cd sleeve illustrations that correlates with the music. SWALLOW THE SUN (Finland) "The Morning Never Came" - CD, 2004 Firebox Records. 8 tracks of Doom Horror Death. With a cover art that could be used in a poster of a supernatural horror film. The music here is from slow doom to a more midpaced speed with solid bass death vocals with occasional higher pitched dual vox & even normal voice. The melody is very catchy & memorable that it leaves a humming imprint in my brain and with the over all feeling of celebrating the darkness yet you know something horrific is in it.
