The MIA Thread: Who is away, and when?
      #353130 - 2002/06/06 08:33 AM

Jethro and Neroon have already posted travel dates. It seems logical to have a single thread to post these in so the thread doesn't drop out of sight. I'll repeat the first two here.

Jethro
June 8 - 16

Neroon
June 27 - July 2

Sho-Rin (the Traveller)
June 9 - 12 - little BBS access
June 17 - 28 - reasonable BBS access
July 3 - 15 - intermittent BBS access
There will be more as the summer unfolds.

I'll probably be absent Jun 22nd and Jun 23rd. Potentially, early July, but I don't know exact dates.

Sadly, apart from the odd day off I've had all my leave now till August. I'll post where and when then. And my latest 'holiday' got cancelled so I never went anywhere .

I will unfortunately be gone for most of the week ending 20 June. It is a long planned vacation of Yellowstone. And I seriously doubt that Ol' Faithful has a modem connection...

Taking the daughter up to Tallahassee to college on Tues, June 18 and Weds 19th (possibly 20th, not sure yet about that).

Will have no computer access whatsoever, plan on getting plenty of reading done when not otherwise occupied.

Oh, trust me my boy, there be phones in Yellowstone. Went there three years ago and had no trouble getting an AOL connection from the lodge. IIRC, there is an Ethernet 10/100 TCP/IP connection in the middle of Lo' Faithful, but you can only use it between eruptions.

Monday 23rd July - August 7th - a Star Trek orgy in Las Vegas, for the big convention (and to personally shake Mr. Nimoy's hand, and attempt to get a vulcan salute off him for a photo!).

Late notice, I know, I will be out a little bit tomorrow night, dealing with a little problem of mine. I won't be able to make my usual rounds.

I'd rather take on a hack attack from the entire TK than deal with this problem. Anyone want to take my place?

Not next week, but the week after, I'm going to be finishing up a research course I took for the summer, and I'm going to have to give up my life from 6/24-2/27.

I'm doing a paper on the radio broadcast of "War of the Worlds".

I'll be shooting a short film around the first two weeks of July, and editing the bloody mess the last two weeks. I won't be gone, but my participation will be limited. I'll still be reading threads normally (half-hour spurts 3 to 6 times a day), but I'll only chime in when necessary.

Hitting the road for VA for vacation in <24 hours, then doing my bit for Uncle Sam for a few weeks. At the VERY latest, I'll be back toward the end of August, but more likely some time early- to mid-August I'll have at least sporadic contact.

Anyhow, I'm nearly back from playing in the mud. Going back to C'ville tomorrow and will hopefully be able to pick back up in GTD (though doubtfully go back and read all the fun stuff from the past few weeks) shortly thereafter.

And to add that my holiday dates are 11th August to the 27th. I shall be around the first week, but with less online time. I don't have a clue what's happening the second.

Phew!

After that orgy of Star Trek at the Las Vegas convention, I am now back (and tired) in the good old UK.

I'm just hoping my cuddle with Claudia Christian turns out OK in the photograph.

Now that IS something where you need to take a cold shower immediatley afterwards! My tounge literally hit the floor - gushing with drool.......

Ok, I'll be out for a few more days. (Technically I'm not here right now, but took a brief break from the hospital.)

The doctor is thinking that Dad will be down from yesterday's surgery 4 to 6 days. That means release on Friday or Saturday. Theoretically I could be back on the board on Saturday or Sunday night. Really don't know at this point. Don't know what to tell my boss either. Anyway, I'll check in when I'm back full time. Thanks to Bonnie and Mutai for covering while I'm away.

I'll tell you this, I was ready for one hell of a cold shower after that!

I've (literally) fancied the tits off Claudia since I was 15, and to get that close was awsome!

As was the fact she autographed a picture of herself in a lace top, which clearly shows her nipples!

(Am I allowed to post a link to that picture??????)

Leafman also showed me a video of her in a Columbo episode, with a fake Italian accent.

Anyway, she really did love my Scottish accent, which, proved to be one hell of a babe magnet in the States. (Shame it doesn't actually work that well here in the UK).

Thanks, Bonnie and Mutai. Dad is doing pretty well. Lots of pain, but he's walking around now and that's a good thing. He'll be in the hospital longer than I thought, at least through this weekend, so it may be a little longer before I'm back full time (just turned on the computer to check in). All the more reason to get that 4th Mod.

In about 15 minutes I am going to Yellowstone for next four days. Can the admins please keep an eye on my forum. I have been experiencing some trolling and flaming lately (especially directored towards the PocketBook Editors) so keeping an eye on it is imperiative.

See you then.

Ok, I'll pick up Lit. It's usually pretty civilised in there. If T'Bonz will just watch over it from MA (complaints) over night .

I'm headed up north this afternoon, hopefully for the last time for awhile. Anyway I should be back by Saturday night.

I expect us to have a fourth Mod by then so I'm confident the three of you can pick up the slack.

Thanks.
