Top41, let's just say that I have some influence in the MA forum. But entering ENT...... like Daniels said in QSF, that forum goes thorugh mods like HOgwart's goes through its teachers for "Defense Against the Dark Arts".

So - did you watch it on the BBC, when they showed it agian last year? I LOVED it. The fact that Arthur Dent proceeds to wear his dressing gown for the rest of the episodes is hilarious! I also listened to the radi play, which had the same cool music. (Ignornat git that I am, I haven't read the book).

And happy to be here! For those that I don't know--hi! *waves* I've posted a lot in Misc, SF&F, and, of course, Enterprise. I went on the Vegas trip to the Creation Con (the one we're still rehashing in MISC...thread 7 is almost finished!). What else...I pretty much like all Trek, with DS9 and TNG vying for first place. Enterprise was what drew me here first, back in November or December. I lurked for a while and then decided to sign up. The Enterprise forum has been surprisingly tame in the last 24 hours. Pretty cool! Maybe it will stay that way for a while (until season 2 starts...)?

Thanks! It's actually my car license plate--it looks like a vanity plate, but I actually got it randomly. I thought it was pretty humorous, especially because of the Top 40 on the music charts--the 41st song would have just missed it! I found it pretty funny--a kind of subtle "close, but no cigar" symbol. I liked it, so when I was deciding on a user name, it seemed like a good choice.

During that period I would expect that we, and possibly you in particular, will have some people bitch at you. Don't take it personally, there are members of this board who only live to bitch at us and they will likely pick on you because you're a newbie. I did follow what happened in the ENT forum, and I know it's a tough forum at times. And I'm prepared for a little criticism--I've paid some visits to Moderator Actions recently to read some threads, so I know what you guys (and now me) are up against. Thanks for giving me some time to get my feet wet--it's much appreciated! Just let me know what need me to do if there's anything in particular this month. I've already closed two threads, but they were pretty clean calls. I expect the difficult stuff will come!

^It's more likely for us, as we don't have flood control to protect us. icq does need downloading, but it's very quick and easy. Do NOT go with Trillian. Brainchild of the devil.

Trillian? I'm not familiar with that one, but will definitely stay away--thanks for the advice. I hope they'll let me download ICQ at work (though I don't think it will be a problem--others have MSN and AOL).

saavik and I were watching that thread last night (I've not quite made it there yet today.) I think that it started out as a troll, but the folks there (at least as of last night) had turned it into a genuine discussion and so we were just monitoring it.There will be offensive stuff (to Americans anyhow) posted the next few days. That is the nature of free discussion, which we encourage. The trick is to make sure we don't shut down discussion just because it offends us, unless it really does break the rules. Sure, as an American, I'd like to toss the guy on his cyberass out of here. But he's not breaking the rules, just skirting very close. It's hard to be objective about it, given the content, that just means we have to be aware that our feelings may color our response to him.

^Thanks, T'Bonz. That was the stance I took, too. I didn't come right out and say that it offended me, but I did try to sympathize with the posters in MA who were objecting to it. Of course, they're still pretty mad about it...Borgminster wants the thread title changed, but I can't see any good way to do that...if it was changed to "Muslims in Enterprise," a whole undesirable proverbial can of worms would be opened for associating all Muslims with the Taliban!
