Is it just me, or has posting rates dipped?
      #356149 - 2002/09/09 10:44 PM

Usually, The big forums (TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT AND STX) have at leat two pages of threads up. now out of those, I've noticed that only ENT has 2 pages. Is this due to a drop in posting rates? Or something like thread convergence? All posters posting in the same threads? Is this just a dull time for Trek right now with ENT in reruns, STX in the can and waiting and no news in general? Is there a migration to TNZ and Misc. because both of those forums seem to be healthy. Misc. actually has 3 pages up!! Do I just have too much time on my hands to notice and be concerned about this?

I think things like high school and college might have something to do with it.

Sorry, but I have to work now...

I would expect it to pick up shortly, after the initial workload for new students settles down.

ahhh... so this is a seasonal dip then? I wasn't quite here last year at this time. I didn't even discover this BBS until after 9/11 sometime last year.

Every year my rate of posting on this board has dropped way down during the fall months. I assume this true of other students too.

Then it spikes way up in the summer time!

As we pull in more members with the start of ENT's second season there should be a spill over effect as newbies and those who only come to discuss current eps start looking around other forums.

Fall is my busiest time of the year. It's when my little copy center does HALF of the copies it makes all year. Therefore, I've got to figure that most businesses are busier in the fall than at any other time of the year. Blame it on schools and the end of fiscal year/beginning of fiscal year stuff and lots of lawsuits that I've been busy copying stuff for lately.

Also, we had a real flurry this summer in TOS because of the re-release of ST:TWOK. I expect the same sort of thing for ST:TSfS and ST:TVH in October and November.

No there is a migration to SF&F. God those people are really at it. In the last few days it has become "Save Farscape" headquarters. Suffice to say, it's busy!

SFF usually has 2 pages worht even on the lower timeframe displayed. (5 days ago, 2 days ago). But Scotty is right. With the cancellation of Farscape the forum has picked up even more of late.

It strikes me that most message boards seem pretty quiet at the moment, the ones I regularly visit, at least (including a good number of non-scifi boards).

Posting rates in TNG has dipped since the summer vacation months ended, but only slightly. I have noticed however, that posting in the forum in a lot higher than it was last year, even without NEM discussion, most likely due to the resurgence of TNG due to the release of the TNG DVDs.
