Hey, guys, the newbie mod could use some advice. Borgminster continues to make snide comments in/about the Taliban thread in ENT. His last comment in ENT ("Long live Osama!") seems trollish to me. I've been ignoring some of his other comments, and trying to reason with him, but I think he's crossed the line. Still, if I give him a warning, it's going to unleash hell. It looks like it's reached closing time to me. It's nearly at 100 so it won't be too bad if you do so now.That particular comment isn't quite warnable IMO. It seems more like an expression of frustration, although I'll admit I don't quite see with what.

Thanks, Huntingdon, I do appreciate the input. So you think it's ok to close at 90? I do think it's run its course, and that useful discussion has pretty much ceased.

Looks like it to me.The close at 100 is only a guideline. It doesn't always have to go right up to it, especially if it has gone off topic, as appears to be the case here.

With the exception of Borgminister's childish ranting that thread was actually moving into a very interesting debate. But closing it was probably the best call at that point. Discussion of religion on ENT and so forth can be discussed in other threads now with out Borgminister shitting all over it. And I do sympathize with him. I think he's been taking this whole thing waaaaaaaaaay too personally. But for all I know he had a relative on a plane that day who never came home. I'm not about to warn him, although I probably would have tolerated less from others. ------------------

^Those were pretty much my feelings as well. He wouldn't let it drop, which was frustrating, but I understand his sensitivity. I found the thread pretty distasteful myself, but when it veered into talking about Muslims on ENT, it gained some legitimacy (too bad that wasn't the topic to begin with). I figured with only 10 posts to go, and practically every other post being from Borgminister lamenting the topic, that it was a good time to shut it down. Too bad--it looks like a good post came after mine. Ah, well, like you said--similiar topics can be discussed (somewhat) less controversially in other threads.
