He's been trolling very subtlely (and not so subtlely) the last couple of days --

I've already posted to him that if he starts another half-a-thread-long pissing match with somebody (mostly kmart), I'm gonna warn his ass.

Am I just being overly paranoid, or has he been an ongoing problem?

So it would appear, Aatrek.

[edit]*chuckle* It would appear that he's quite a problem. Not that you're being paranoid.

Those two in MA are annoying but not exactly warnable. He's upset but hasn't crossed the line in there yet.

I would have warned him for trolling in the parody thread. He deliberately set out to get that shut down.

He's been contentious in the Taliban thread in ENT, too.

http://www.trekbbs.com/ubb/Forum28/HTML/009633.html

It seems like this guy has a negative comment for everything. No warnings from us, though, since he's just been more snide than outright trolling.

Huntingdon, then I am glad I advocated for it's reopening. Sheesh....

^You advocated re-opening the thread in the Enterprise forum. I was referring to the one in the Nemesis forum.

I agree with the closing, but OoR was trolling kmart by the end of it. Mind you, a warning would have had to be given to kmart too, so perhaps it's best no-one was warned.

It just irritates me that people can deliberately spoil a good thread and get away with it.

While I was trying to get the ENT version re-opened, I thought that the NEM version was already. No matter, I think it's good that they are opened, regardless of OoR's predilection for complaining. I hated to see the threads closed when a minority of the participants were ruining it.

Has he always been this way in those two forums?

Nem was open, but closed as the Ent one opened. There was complaining from other people as well OoR.

However, OoR rarely has something positive to say and will appear in threads he doesn't approve of to tell people so, and will continue to do so until the thread gets so off-topic that it gets closed. It's rather subtle and not sufficiently prevalent to do much about. The parody thread was one of his weaker arguments, IMO.

This is not to say that he doesn't sometimes make positive and welcome contributions, but the negative ones stand out more.

Edit: looks like Aa re-opened Nem as well. Yay!

OoR has just trolled Kor in an unwarnable way in TOS. *sigh* Does anyone know this fellow well enough to ask him to chill out by email?

Unfortunately not.

I doubt it would work either. He's had a month long ban before now, IIRC. It doesn't appear to have had much effect.

Lisa made it clear she didn't like the p-word, so I was trying to come up with a new euphemism for those who are no longer here...

We're not allowed to call them posters?

Why is it "*"ermaban anyway? Why not just plain and simple ban?

I think because the "p-word" (which hardly sounds any better )) was differentiation from the 1-day, 1-week, 1-month ban.

Well how about "in stasis" or "powered down" or some other intriguing yet appropriate terminology?

"Expelled" would imply that the username no longer existed. These ***mabanned usernames are still registered, just locked down.

"Dehydrated" ? Nahh....
