New software posting question
      #356680 - 2002/09/18 03:38 AM

With the new software, is it possible to "censor" words (profanity, etc)?

If so, could it be altered to, instead of prohibiting swearing, hide any specific text? Such as "TK" or "TrollKingdom" or "www.trollkingdom.com?"

Could it (or another newboard feature) prohibit the posting of a link that had "www.trollkingdom.com" in it? Like "http://www.trollkingdom.com/thisisnotapage/stupid.jpg?"

Just a late-night [or early morning] thought.

The current software contains a profanity filter. We just don't use it. When I held the Ring, I was eternally tempted by a deep desire to enter Christian and Lisa in it .

But we could use it to filter the words - though I'm not sure if it's sophisticated enough to edit a link for us. Worth find out though .

Well, yeah, I guess. It was mainly the links that I was concerned about.

There's also the fact that 'Christian' used to be censored at the old TK board.

Censoring things like "TK" and the like would be pretty ridiculous. Then again, we're doing that already aren't we? I am beginning to think that as understandable as our reaction to that site may be, the editing out of said link looks rather silly and ineffective. Then again, leave it in and we're advertising an odious place that has nothing better to do than try to be as annoying as a mosquito in a tent.

Nice, vicious little circle eh?
