We really do need an late-night (EST) administrator.
      #356670 - 2002/09/18 02:36 AM

I'm on the East Coast of USA, and I've noticed that the last few spam attacks (and the Virtual Adept spam tonight, as well as the TK links being disguised as "Shockwave II" reviews) have been happening in the post-midnight hours.

While I know that T'Bonz is usually up this late, since she's been out of town, the late night has been shot to hell these last few days.

Tonight, for example, where'sSaavik? was stuck closing thread after thread in the Enterprise forum, because Virtual Adept got pissed off and started spamming up the place.

Since his account couldn't be locked (even after receiving like eight warnings or something), he continued to post. Plus, the Troll Kingdom links, disguised as "Shockwave II" reviews, were posted all over ENT as well as MA.

Is there any way we could either get a fifth Admin, or have a Temporary Admin assigned when one is known to be unavailable for more than a day or so?

(Or, if an admin is on late, could you PLEASE turn on your ICQ?)

I think it would take care of the coverage hole that currently exists.

ANYA: Oh no, this is a special kind of angel called a Charlie. We don't have wings, we just skate around with perfect hair fighting crime.

I concur. We really need to make sure that we have an admin more or less round the clock. It's worth remembering that most of the horrible porn attacks which finished off image posting took place on Bonz's shift.

And it does raise the question, what are we going to do at the end of the month when she stands down?

I think that we either need a (or another) West Coast USA admin -- it's only midnight when it's 8 AM in the UK (I think).

That seems decent enough to me. (Unless we get an Australian admin [which, unless we already have one, would mean that we'd need an Austrailan Moderator], which would be another third of the world covered.)

Agreed -- one of us East Coast late-nighters should be able to contain an outbreak if one should happen to crop up, since the attacks and activities tend to occur once most (if not all) the administration is already asleep or at work.

Agreed. It makes us look as helpless as we feel, in fact.

Yeah, you'll need a west coast or Aussie to fill my slot.

I'll be back to my normal vampire hours on Sunday night. Would someone please tell the trolls to hold off til then? I missed most of the fun the other night!

Don't super things usually end up with super villains?

We could be looking at a clash of the titans.
