It's too bad we can't issue restraining orders forcing them not to talk to each other. This thread is quickly going from bad to worse.

What I find particularly annoying is the sig Cogley put on his last post (the 22nd at 0527) about Daniels being gay. You can't open a thread in QSF about getting trolled in somebody's sig, then taunt that poster when he politely responds, then troll him with your signature.

The amazing stupidity of these pissy little trolls is really starting to get to me. Don't even get me started on OneofRyan's daitribe in MA.

EDIT: I've begun lecturing STC now on being a leader in the forum, not feeding the trolls, etc. I'd like to hear if anyone thinks I'm being off base about what I'm telling him. Thanks.

Um, why not? I've done it. Sure, it's unorthodox, and there's nothing in the rules to back it up, but if you say it the right way, they'll do it, and then everyone wins.

Haven't seen the thread yet, but I have done the same thing off-line. STC, unfortunately, is often the target for lesser minds and occasionally gets his belly full. He should know how to behave, though.

Just a reminder, I'll be on the road with limited internet access for the next 8 days. I hope things are relatively quiet.

I just read through the thread in question. It *seems* to have reached a lull now, though between posters who dislike each other so much, you never know what could happen.

It's just my opinion, but I think Samuel T. Cogley was trolling Daniels with all of those "crush" comments, and his new sig--the "Daniels is gay" one that you're referring to, wS?--does indeed cross the line. Sheesh, and here I thought all of this stuff got left behind in Jr. high!

While I sympathize with the trouble both Samuel and Dennis Bailey have had recently with other posters, and have even warned for it (dudley and Virtual Adept, respectively), I can't help but wish that those two would tone down their snippy replies to anyone who doesn't agree with them. As you said in QSF, wS?, it raises them above merely being high profile to being high profile targets. I noticed it long before being a mod.

Back to the topic in question--from what I read in QSF, Daniels seems willing to let it go. I'm still hoping that with the new season of ENT starting, people will be more interested in talking about the show than fighting with each other. I'm an optimist--what can I say?

I meant literally issuing restraining orders.

But you're right we can order posters not to speak to one another. And you can back that up with the Board Rules, you just have to twist the trolling rules pretty hard.
