Around less for a day or two
      #781636 - 2003/02/13 05:25 PM

If any one has noticed, I've not been around much the last 48 hours, and might not for a day or two more. I will check everything daily, but can't guarantee much more than that. I found a very dear, sweet friend unconscious on the floor yesterday morning, and spent a large chunk of time getting her into hospital. Today she died, and it looks as though a lot of the arranging will fall to me, as her only relative is a long way away and quite elderly. If I'm not around as much as usual, or I appear distracted, please understand. Thanks

Kathy.... it sounds almost silly for me to be saying this to you, but peace be with you, sister.

""Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God ; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." - John 14:1-3

^ It's been a long time since I've read that verse, Neroon. Thank you.

It's a very powerful verse, in a subtle way, even for when it's not you that is facing entry to the life triumphant. It reminds us that our friends will be there, too... they're just going on ahead to striaghten the place up, get the hot tub running and fix dinner for us.

Thank you folks so much, all of you. I feel so alone in all this, and have to be 'strong' for all the church folk. Your love and prayers (and Roons reading of the 'funeral lesson') mean more than I can say. And you shoved me over into the damned good cry for myself that I really needed.

Hugs to all of you.

Thanks for all your support and prayers. (And of course the hugs! )

It has been tough, but humbling. We've decided after two days on the study, that Mary probably never did write a will. However, the experience has been breathtaking. Mary had almost no 'personal' stuff - just enough outfits to keep clean, shoes for different weather conditions, and soap and shampoo. She spent money on Christian books and resources for church and children's work - and anything else she gave away. She seems to have supported countless charities, as well as numerous individuals in Christian work. She was careful with her money - in order to give away the most she could. Finding her prayer diary and her prayer journal left me breathless at her intimacy with God. I shall never be such a saint.

Thanks for listening, and for being there. The worst of the arrangements are done, I'll be filtering back into normality over the weekend.
