ALEC STAR - “ALEC STAR” (1982/SMART ALEC RECORDS/USA)

Out of New York City came ALEC STAR, another quality band with a one-off release. Their album was released back in 1982, and like many other Rockacts at the time it was filled with high class AOR/Melodic Radiorock/Poprock, very much in the style of PASSENGER, LOVERBOY, STEEL BREEZE, 707, QWEST, CHANNEL, CHAMPION, THE BABYS...

The best songs were on side-A, in the shape of the fantastic AOR rockers "Give me the time" and "Man behind the wheel". The rest of the album were all typical early 80s rockers that sounded very nice, but were not as good as most of the other similar acts in this typical US Radiorockstyle from around 1982. What sets them apart however is the great twin-guitarsound (by Dick Murray and Harry Mantor), although main leader of the band is George Mahoney (who plays drums, keys and sings).

Anyway, a nice one to check out if you're looking for something in the style of mentioned acts. At the moment there will be a CD and DVD available of the band, more info at: http://www.alecstar.com
