American satirist and former Rolling Stone correspondent P.J. O'Rourke, now a noted conservative began his writing career for the ultra-liberal underground newspaper "Harry" in Baltimore in 1970.
A graduate of Miami University in Ohio O'Rourke then went on to John Hoptins on a Woodrow Wilson writing fellowship and it was there that he started his liberal underground career. By the early 1970's he was firmly entrenched at the hilarious National Lampoon, eventually becoming the magazine's editor. A brief excursion in Hollywood resulted in his screenplay for one of Rodney Dangerfield's funniest films 'Easy Money' in 1980 and soon after his byline began appearing in publications like Esquire and Vanity Fair. Since 1987 he's been a regular contributor to Rolling Stone, offering up his ever cynical opinions on every political issue from Northern Ireland to Somalia, and not without his critics either. He's also authored several best sellers, works which have mainly been compilations of his Rolling Stone pieces,. One of his last books Give War A Chance sold remarkably well and went to #1 on the New York Times Best Seller List. P.J. O'Rourke has homes in New York, New Hampshire and Washington D.C |
