| Chicago born Jim O’Rourke (1969-) is a member of the popular alternative band Sonic Youth and a significant figure in the alternative pop music scene as both a performer and producer.
Originally a member of the.Chicago based Gastr Del Sol O’Rourke has embraced various musical styles from avante-garde to folk. Beginning with 1995’s Terminal Pharmacy Jim O’Rourke has issued a series of critically acclaimed solo experimental pop records. His album Insignificance was hailed by the UK magazine NME as "...A work of unparalleled individual brilliance....It's the first unequivocal classic album of the new year..." (NME 1/19/02, p.27) - 8 out of 10 . An accomplished vocalist Jim O’Rourke can handle both bass and lead guitar work with equal flare and is set to be a disctinctive musical force in the 21st Century. |
