O'Rourke's On the Screen

Fictional O'Rourkes have appeared several times on the silver screen and on a few television programs. Alan Ladd portrayed a reformed gangster named Salty O'Rourke in the 1945 film of that name. Olivia de Havilland played the lead in the 1943 film Princess O'Rourke, while the 1949 Esther Williams classic Neptune's Daughter featured Ricardo Montalban as the Brazilean Jose O'Rourke. Montalban seemed to have an affinity for the name and years later immortalized himself as the mysterious Mr. Rourke on the hit series Fantasy Island. Working Stiffs was a shortlived comedy that starred Jim Belushi and Michael Keaton of all people as two O'Rourke brothers trying to do the name proud.
