What By Rock?
Written By Jokers Child
So most of you are probably beginning to read this. And for those of you who know J.C. they are probably saying to them self’s right now "what the fuck? A review on a book. Jokers Child can't read. Damn I bet their is a lot of pictures in that book" Well to get the record straight I can read, and no their was not a lot of pictures in this book. So sit back and read the rest of this review.
The book is called "Fuck by Rock The unspeakable Confessions of Zodiac Mindwarp aka Mark Manning" Written by Mark Manning himself the lead singer of a UK group called Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction. For those of you who are wondering.

In this book the Zodiac himself tells many different stories about what happened while on tour with his band. You read about everything from the different girls him and his band mates buggered as they called it. To the many stupid things they did while drunk or high. Manning also talks a bit about the different members of The Love Reaction and a very little bit about his music.
My first question is who the hell are these guys? With a name like Zodiac Mindwarp you have to be wondering why they did not make it over here. What an amazing name for a band. At least that was what I thought when I first picked up the book. I first saw the book in early December when I was Christmas shopping with my girlfriend. I was in the bookstore with her and picked it up. At the time I just thought the band name was real interesting and thought it was probably another Spinal tap story. But then I read the back and it said Ian Astbury claims this to band to be the biggest thing this century back in 1986. Well that night in the book store I put it down and forgot about it. Well Christmas mourning I woke up to find it as one of my presents by my girlfriend. I was shocked. Actually at the time I did not remember it. Anyways to shorten up this story I actually took the time and started reading the book. Well to my surprise I enjoyed it. I found it real entertaining but disgusting. I don't recommend this book to everybody. Just to the people who have a warped view of life in their head. I personally think most people would probably get mad and toss the book away after the first two chapters.
Overall the book was great. But there were two things I had problems with. 1. The British Slang. At first I was like " What the hell is this guy saying" To me it was like trying to read a French book. But after awhile you catch on to what Mark Manning is talking about and forget about the frustration of trying to read this guys slang. #2 was the stories. Not once did this guy ever talk about getting in trouble with the cops. There must have been over 50 different crimes talked about in that book and not once was their ever a cop mentioned. I am kind of wondering if this guy was adding to his little tales. But like I said overall it was a good book even though he really did not talk about his music that much. So if you like to read biographies or autobiographies on bands and their stupid stories of what they have done on tour well then I recommend this book. Especially if you have a warped sense of humor. Also if you have any information on to were I can find one of their albums please email me the Jokers Child. I want to hear what they sound like.
Overall I give this book a 8 out of 10 Brian Mulroney heads.
