How I got started into all of this.
I was taught by my grandmother, Dorothy Jewel Lamon to read a regular deck of playing cards, when I was a teenager. Diamonds, Clubs, Spades and Hearts, Jack, King, Queen, are pretty much the tarot without the Major Arcana. The four suits, symbolizing the 4 directions or the 4 sacred letters of God's name IHVH, relate to the tarot's wands, pentacles (or disks), cups and swords. My grandmother Dorothy loved to play cards. She could tell I was a psychic early on and she posed interesting questions for me about the numbers and suits on the cards, which eventually helped me learn to read them.
When I finally got a reading from a psychic lady in Kentucky, she laid out the cards, which were mostly major trumps, and looked at me and said, "You are the one who should be giving readings," that was the proper sign I needed to begin to read with the regular deck of playing cards. To ensure I was walking the path, being guided by spirit, I only read by a regular deck of playing cards until a friend gave me my first tarot deck, which is usually traditional.

What is a mystical experience?
A mystical experience, or epiphany, can happen to anyone. Usually its rare, and may seem very out of the ordinary. It usually covers the whole range of human experience, and it beyond the ordinary. Lots of mystical experiences include what many people call "clear light" or a light of a vibration higher than eyesight. These mystical states can be religious, spiritual, nature deva's, other-worldly, unicorns, dragons, faeries, and many other mythic symbols in humanities collective unconscious. Usually a mystical experience taps Archetypes, as Carl Jung would call them, potential energies for human creative potential. An experience like this might take many years to process. For me, my experience reminded me of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table, and I originally called it "Merlin's Sacred Wheel."
The circle is a symbol of continuity and continuation. Like the symbol of the Star Goddess Nuit, she is movement, going within, going out, like the cosmic breath. The sacred circle has been used on many levels: camp fires, sacred space for ceremony, in mythology like King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. In Eastern mysticism, circles, a Mandala, are sacred drawing like Yantras and Sand Paintings of the Tibetans. There is also Sun Bear's Medicine Wheel. Black Elk talked about the sacred hoops connecting humanity, when he has his sacred vision at a young age. The Mayans and indigenous cultures honor the circle as the 4 sacred directions. Sweat lodges and Kivas are built around the sacred circle, fire pit, center of the Sipapu,--keeper of the Hunab Ku. This ceremony has been very empowering, but always difficult to put into word, as its better experienced. I've tried calling it the Star Portal, Tarot Plus, but I have settled on the original name, Clear Light Harmonics.

On that day, April 9, 1986, I took my Thoth deck up into the foothills in Boulder, passing through CU campus, where the World Affairs Conference was taking place at that time. All the flags of the world lining both sides of the sidewalk.
I found a spot in the foothills, lit some sage, created my sacred space and asked spirit "to bless me and initiate me into the proper use of the Thoth tarot". At this point, I had a mystical experience.
What was this mystical experience the afternoon of April 9, 1986 in the foothills of Boulder?
I immediately began to feel woosey, after I lit the sage growing at the sacred spot I picked. Up above me, there was a tree on a hill, and it began to move like it was underwater, undulating; when suddenly around the trees branches it appeared to be a ring of fire, and the rings began to unfold like snakes, different colours, all around, and I knew it to be 36 rays (though now I can't tell you how as I didn't have time to count them). It felt like my body was sitting in the heat and dryness of the sun, and the hail and ice of the cold, and the wetness of the rain and the solid sense of the earth was leaving my consciousness. I heard a voice, a voice of the Goddess bekon me, "Step into the Fool's Space." So at the center of all this mystic maya unfolding I saw a clear light, a glimmering and at the same time it was black and absent of colour and yet it was white and full of colour. I surrendered to this, and my consciousness vanished. When I returned I was in such a state of peace and tranquility. I "knew" things my normal waking intellect couldn't. It was like I had been in some divine love energy and divine wisdom. I came out of this and did my first Clear Light Harmonics layout, a 37 card spread, 4 octaves of Nine cards, and in the very center the 37th card lay in the Fool's Space.
Since this experience I have studied and worked with Western Magick, Hermticism, Eastern Meditation and Yoga, my own dream journaling and I have discovered 9 lens altogether. My lens is another word for Grade, or Level, a Key.
Interesting things About Psychic Readings
Set and surroundings are always important. I always bless my space at the beginning of every Tarot Reading Session. Tuning into inner listening and feelings, I receive spirit guided messages and information I can impart to the client. I believe the best approach, instead of purely intellectual, is Intuitive, Clairvoyant and Empathic inner work combined with the synchronicity of the laying out of the cards. Of course the clients mood and beliefs influence the outcome of the cards.
I've seen fast results when I ask the right questions and also when people are open to being psychically read. I can work with skeptics, and some healthy skepticism is great, but psychic work is fine, subtle work and works better when two people are allowing the energies to flow. Just having an open mind and feeling connected to your own inner spirit helps in the depth of each session.
It's fun to see people's faces when the cards reveal their own personal truth and nail their situation on the head! Its great to see when people are ready to look at something and also ready for transformation and change.
