About Us...

Mississippi Alliance of Childbirth Assistants (MACA) is a collective group of Labor Assistants, Birth and Postpartum Doulas throughout the State of Mississippi. Our organization consists of a diverse group of ladies who feel called to serve women through their birth experience. Our goal as an organization is to educate the state of Mississippi, professionals as well as lay people, about childbirth options and alternatives, so that the women we serve may have the best birth experience possible with the healthiest outcomes.

Our Mission Statement

  • To maintain our primary responsibility is to our clients
  • To act as an open forum for peer review, consultation and ethical accountability
  • To use our knowledge of spiritual mothering to build nurturing relationships
  • To equip and encourage our clients, peers and our communities with knowledge of birth as a safe normal process
  • To instill in our clients trust in their primal birth instincts
  • To act as a resource network to women during their childbearing years.

We do not feel it is the role of the group to dictate a code of ethics to our members. Even so, we have agreed on a few guidelines that work with the personal ethical code each of us uphold to. We do not use client's last names when discussing cases, without written permission from that client. The cases discussed are held in strictest confidence between group members and are only discussed for peer review. We openly share information regarding healthcare professionals and our interactions with them so that we can use that information to better serve our clients. Within the group, all persons and opinions are to be treated equally and respectfully.
