Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, assistant professor of history, 1964-66; Columbia University, New York City, visiting associate professor of history, 1966-67; State University College at New Paltz, New Paltz, NY, associate professor, 1967-71, professor of Chinese history, 1971- 80. Research fellow at Harvard University, 1970-71.

Military
Chinese National Army, served in India, Burma, and Manchuria, 1941-50; became major.
