Doom: The Emperor Returns #2 of 3
This act takes place in the aftermath of the whole Heroes Reborn crisis Marvel created. I believe the only things that kept Marvel afloat during this crossover were the Doom stories that came out of it. Doom played a major role in helping Marvel become normal again. For that, we thank him
I am going to skip all the mumbo jumbo leading up to this story, so I will not confuse anyone who is not an avid Doom reader. I will try to make it as unconfusing as possible. Basically, You have Planet Doom (Counter Earth), it is under attack, and Doom finds this great power source at its core. Doom, being the genius that he is, goes to tap this power source, so he can defeat his enemies. He finds in the center an Avatar of Franklin Richards. Franklin created this planet, and like they say, there is a little of the artist in the art. Doom sees that Franklin can give him so much power, and Doom wants it (for the better of mankind, of course).
Franklin seems hesitant, but Doom promises Franklin he will create a perfect planet. Franklin, who is unconcerned of other issues, wants to know if there will be ponies. Doom assures him there will be. Franklin jumps on this like a cheerleader onto her date after prom-night. He gives Doom all the power to shape Planet Doom. Doom describes the pain of receiving all the knowledge of a world as, "exquisite."
As soon as Doom receives the power, he reshapes the world into what Doom desires: A Latveria he has always wished for. Franklin reminds Doom of his promise, and Doom tells him that he has not forgotten. Franklin looks to see ponies. The eyes of a child are quite a site when they see the object of their desire. Franklin Richard's eyes were no different. Doom kept his promise of ponies, but Doom did not promise a long healthy life for the Franklin avatar. Doom smokes the little avatar like a sausage at Jimmy Dean's House.
Doom always keeps his promises, and despite turning Franklin Richards into dust, Doom spares his cowboy hat. Doom knows how replaceable a Richards is, but a good cowboy hat is hard to find.
