Tailstand

This is an easy way to learn how to do a tailstand.

  1. Get up some speed and do a 180 spin.
  2. As you stop spinning, get all of your weight to the back of the boat.
  3. Pull back hard on the handlebars and give the boat some gas. (This step will vary depending on your strength, weight and trim position.)
  4. Now that you have the bow pointed to the sky, its all up to you. You have to balance yourself, the boat, steering, and throttle now. As you progress you will be able to control the attitude of the boat with the throttle and steering.

Barrel Roll

Ready for the barrel roll? If you haven't seen this trick done before think of a kyak. Remember never to turn your Sea-Doo over to the right side.

  1. Get up some speed and do a 180 spin to the left.
  2. As the spin ends, you must be standing in the middle of the ski.
  3. Just before you loose all of your momentum, lean over hard to the left and tip the boat over. Don't let go!
  4. You should be underwater now with the boat upside down above you. Let feet of the boat and kick and pull like crazy to get the boat to turn a complete revolution.
  5. As you come up on the other side, give the boat gas and ride out of the trick.

Hurricane

The huricane is kind of a swirl, with your feet off of the ski.

  1. Grab the trottle side of the handlbar with your right hand, and the rear boarding handle with your left.
  2. Jump off the right side of the ski and begin to turn as you give the craft gas. Try to keep your body as close to the handlebars as possible. Your Sea-Doo should be going in a very tight circle around you.
  3. Hold on tight and give the ski more gas to make the spin faster and faster.
  4. To ride out of this trick, quickly let go with your left hand and grab the handlebar, straighten it out and ride away. The key to this trick is the speed of the spin, and keeping your body as close to the boat as possible.

Barefooting

Now for barefooting! This trick kicks up a huge rooster tail if done right. I suggest practicing in smooth water. Once you get the hang of it on smooth water you can move on to rougher water.

  1. Get your boat going 30-35 mph.
  2. Step over the seat so that both feet are in the left footwell. Make sure that you keep the boat balanced though.
  3. Put your left foot in the water, keep your toes up and most of your weight on your right foot. Get comfortable with the ski's balance and handling before you go on to the next step.
  4. Now put your right foot in the water. Shift all of your body weight to your right foot, slowly pull your left foot out of the water.
  5. Now the secret to making a giant spray. Remember to keep your toes up. Turn your foot so that the side of it cuts through the water and press down with your heel. This will cause the water to run up the bottom of your foot and over your arch, making the biggest spray possible.

Reverse 180 Spin

The toughest part of this trick is getting on the front of your ski backwards!

  1. First, you've got to know how to get on the front of your ski. There are many different ways to do this, it all depends on your personal preference. If you have a SP series, you may be able to walk around on one side while the boat is on a plane. Don't try that on an HX though. To get on the front of the HX you've got to spin around over the handle bars. You can figure this out on your own.
  2. Anyway, now that your on the bow, you should be holding the handlebars with both hands. Remember to watch where you are going.
  3. When you fell comfortable, get up enough speed to plane. Then, give it some gas and turn the bars hard to the throttle side.
  4. Remember to lean into the turn and keep yourself centered. You will be right on the axis of the turn so you will not get tossed.
  5. The last part of the trick is the hardest. Don't let the craft stop after the spin. As soon as you loose the spinning momentum get on the gas, unless you want to go for a swim.
  6. As with all tricks this one will get easier with practice. After you get it down with two hands try it with one. It will really shock some people. Don't forget to pick a clear area though. Its really easy to forget to look where your going!

Turning Sub

This one is easy to do if you weigh a lot and have VTS.

  1. Accelerate until the ski is barley on a plane. Once you have done that get your weight as far forward as possible and set the VTS down.
  2. Turn the ski hard and lean in slightly and stay forward on the ski. This will start to plant the nose under the water.
  3. Once the nose is in the water shift your weight to the front. Bury the throttle and keep turning hard. Just before the water starts to come over the handlebars, duck your head behind them. Try to get as low over the seat as possible so that your head won't stick out above the surface.
  4. Remember to keep your weight forward and hold on tight! It will be easy to hold on if the sub is shallow, but if it goes deep the rushing water will rip you right off.

Well, if you did everything above just right you have just dissapeared below the surface for a few seconds.

WARNING: If you do not have bilge pumps do not attempt this trick without an empty bilge. Also, do not do this trick many times consecutively. Can cause internal damage!

Fountain

  1. First things first. You are going to have to climb on the hood for this trick.
  2. Now, steady the craft and get going in a straight line about 20 mph. The speed will help you get the back end out of the water.
  3. When you are ready, let off the gas and put all of your weight as far forward as possible. There are many positions that you can put your body in to make the fountain shoot higher. Experiment, and do whatever works for you.
  4. As the stern rises out of the water get back on the gas. You have to balance the boat during this step. You should now have a huge fire hose like spray shooting in the air.

Balance is the key to this trick. You must be able to keep the ski steady and upright. And as with the sub, be careful about how much water is in the hull.

Big Air Tricks

Here's how to do a Nac-Nac, Can-Can, Heel Clicker, and a Superman. These tricks are mainly the same except for how they look.

  1. Your defiantly going to need a wave for these four. The bigger the wave, the more time you have to do the trick and get your feet back in the footwells for a smooth landing.
  2. Jump the wave, you want the most air possible, so get on the throttle!
  3. Here is where the four tricks differ.

    • Nac-Nac:

All you have to do for this one is bring your right leg over the seat and kick it out towards the back.

    • Can-Can:

Take both feet out of the footwells and extend your legs toward one side or the other.

    • Heel Clicker:

Bring your feet up and over the handlebars around your arms. Touch your feet together.

    • Superman:

Kick both feet off the back of the ski. Let them dangle in the wind and fly like superman! You can also do this without a wave on smooth water just to show off!

  4. Now the tough part, landing! If your wave was big enough you should have plenty of time to land. All you have to do is get your feet back down in the footwells. Make sure you have your knees bent. If it wasn't... Well, all I can say is brace yourself for a crash!!!

Over and Under

This one is easier than it looks.

  1. You can do this trick at idle speed, but it looks much better at a higher speed. If you are just learning this trick, I suggest practicing at a slow speed until you are sure of yourself.

  2. Now, let off the throttle and slide down over the hood.

  3. Half flip and half dive over the front. Make sure you keep your hands in contact with the ski at all times!

  4. Stay under the water and let the boat go over the top of you, keeping your hands in contact with the bond line all the way. You should be able to feel when you have come to the back of the boat. There will be either a rise in the bond line or you should feel the sponsons.

  5. When you are at the end, pull yourself up out of the water and onto the ski. Remember to watch your head. (On many boats the jet pump sticks out the back and can cause a major headache if you hit it.)

  6. Now grab the handlebars and ride out of the trick! The key to this trick is to keep your hands in contact with the boat at all times. Make sure that you aren't wearing any loose clothing or have long hair that can be sucked into the jet pump.

Caution: The tricks that I have described are above many riders skill level. All of the tricks are potentially dangerous and could cause a serious injury. Always pick an area free of other boats and swimmers and that is deep enough to accommodate your ski. Use your common sense and always wear the proper protective gear, such as a wet suit, PFD and for some tricks a helmet!
