FREYA
Freya is the Norse goddess of fertility & death. She is sometimes called Frigga & known
as the Queen
of the Norse Gods.
THE STORY:
The Peace Offering
The Queen of the Gods
Chooser of the Slain
SYMBOLS
Freya is rarely seen without her cloak of feathers, sometimes called
wings. These wings not only identify her as a member of the Valkryie
but also give her the power to cross dimensions.
She also posesses the Brisings necklace which is said to enhance her beauty
so much that she never takes it off. Freya paid a hafty price for this
necklace, she had to sleep with a tribe of dwarves to obtain it.
When Freya is not using her wings to fly between the worlds, she is riding
in a chariot pulled by two large cats, (see image below).
The boar is also associated with Freya as she once took a human lover who
was transformed into a boar so that the goddess could freely love the human
male without scorn from the other gods.

VANIR
please note that this website
is being created for a Greek Mythology class & the comparisons made between
Freya & Greek Gods are not ones that I would normally make. Therefore
please do not assume that I consider any of the other goddesses, unless otherwise
stated, to be aspects of Freya in another culture.
