Full Moon
the new moon is her own woman
self-sufficient
in her blueblack shroud
she has never lassoed a lullaby
or cradled a bristled tomcat's cry
waxing luna
plays hard to get
tented by a gray weathered pocket map
she listens to the wishes of falling stars
gibbous shows a cracked crystal smile
half-hidden behind violet
childhood flannel
blanketfringe tickles red and gold leaves
but none parallels her
the babysbreath siren
who takes no credit for her magnet tune
"a mere reflection," she says
of her lover's warm caress
she alone knows
the secret half-life of glitter
