A House Unlived In
Toadstools in the untrampled yard
stand in perfect unity, like the firm columns
supporting the leafless roof.
In the parlor, see floral drapery,
flaunting its aristocratic splendor
in front of a satin couch,
unsat in, and an unfriendly armchair.
I recline but am not consoled.
Seeking effervescence I enter the dining room
whose chandelier poses in a pageantry of posh.
Surveying the dainties covering mahogany,
I am not inclined to dine.
