"Taylor! What are you doing?" Destiny asked.
"What does it look like I’m doing?" Taylor asked holding up his paint brush.
Destiny giggled. Taylor was in the guest bedroom that everything had been cleared out from and was standing in the center with the light blue paint dripping on the plastic floor. Paint was all up his arms and even on his face and hair.
"Taylor, you’re too much," Destiny laughed as she stepped into the room and stood in front of him.
"You’re too much," Taylor said as he took the brush and with one quick swipe pressed the brush to her nose turning it blue.
"TAYLOR!!!" Destiny screamed as she ducked down and pulled out another brush and began chasing him around the room. Paint began flying everywhere and before they knew it, Destiny’s mother showed up at the door.
"Calm down you two," she said.
"Mom, you’re too bossy. Learn to live!" Destiny giggled as her mother approached her.
"Live a little? Honey, you and Taylor are going to be growing up a lot more now," she giggled.
Destiny smiled and rubbed her stomach. "Yeah, I know," she said.
"Taylor, why don’t you stop for a while and come eat," Mrs. Faith suggested.
"I’d love to…mom," Taylor laughed.
"Don’t push it, Taylor," Mrs. Faith giggled as she lead both teenagers out to the kitchen.
"Destiny, I can not believe you," Megan said as they marched out of school one Monday afternoon.
"And why is that?" Destiny asked.
"Look at you!" Megan exclaimed. "I can’t believe what you’ve done! Its too exciting!"
Destiny laughed. "Yeah, who would’ve thought right?"
"I know. I mean, you and Taylor. No one would’ve thought," Megan said as Hunter came up to them.
"Hey beautiful," he said.
Megan kissed him. "Hey hottie," she said.
"Coming over tonight?" Hunter asked.
"Of course," Megan smiled.
"I’ll see you then," he winked then walked away.
Destiny smiled evilly. "What are you planning?"
Megan blushed. "Only something I’ve been wanting to loose for a long time," she said.
"OH MY GOD!!! Megan that’s great, but be careful!" Destiny warned.
"Oh I will, don’t worry Des," Megan smiled. "But I am really nervous!"
"You will be," Destiny assured her. "But tell him to take it real slow…you should be fine after tonight," she said. "Well, I’ve got to go. Tay’s here," she said.
"All right. See you later, Des," Megan said.
"Yep. Be careful tonight Meg," Destiny said as she climbed into Taylor’s car.
Taylor smiled as Destiny shut the door. "Hey there," he said and kissed her.
"Hi," she replied licking her lips as Taylor sped away from the curb and down the street.
Taylor had his car today, a red mustang convertible. He had the top down and the music blaring loudly. As Taylor sped along the side-streets of Tulsa, Destiny’s long hair flew freely as the wind picked it up all around her. She looked over at him, seeing him drum his fingers against the steering wheel to the beat.
"Taylor?" Destiny asked after a while of quietness.
Taylor looked over at her briefly before gazing back at the road. "Do you think we’re doing the right thing?"
"Of course! Why wouldn’t we?" Taylor asked as he turned onto Destiny’s road.
"I dunno. I’m just hoping you’re not mad at me or anything," Destiny said.
Taylor pulled into her driveway and parked the car next to the house. He turned off the ignition and faced her. "Destiny, why would I be mad at you? You’re my girlfriend and I love you very much," he said brushing her face.
"You’re too much Taylor Hanson," she smiled. "But I love you too."
He smiled. "Come on, lets go eat," Taylor said jumping out of the car.
The two of them laughed and giggled while walking up to the porch. Taking out her key, Destiny unlocked the door and lead Taylor in placing her books on the nearest table. Calling for her mother, she was no where to be found.
"Where is my mother? She should be home by now," Destiny said in panic.
"I’m sure she’s fine, Des," Taylor suggested. He ran into her kitchen and as soon as he did he called for her. "DESTINY! Get in here! QUICK!!"
Destiny ran into the room and what she saw nearly killed her. A blood stream trickled the floor into a puddle. Destiny looked down and saw her mother’s hand. Taylor kneeled down and picked up a limp hand feeling for a pulse.
"She’s still alive, but we need an ambulance," he said.
"I’m calling," Destiny said as she picked up the phone and dialed 911. What happened to her mother? And why now? Would she make it? Destiny’s head was filled with confusion as she spoke to an operator.
"We’ll dispatch a car right now," the woman said.
"Thanks, and hurry!" Destiny wailed as she slammed the phone down heading back out to Taylor and her mother.
Within a few minutes, paramedics ran into the house with a stretcher and all the necessary equipment. Taylor held the sobbing Destiny as they both watched Mrs. Faith being taken out to the ambulance.
"Taylor, just hold me," Destiny sobbed.
Taylor wrapped his arms around his girlfriend’s shoulder and let her sob. "Its gonna be okay. You’ll see," he said into her hair.
"But what if she doesn’t make it?" Destiny asked. Taylor brushed a strand of hair away from her face. "It would be too much for me to handle," she sobbed.
"Shhh…I know baby. I know," Taylor cooed into Destiny’s ear. "We’ll go see her tomorrow. I promise you," he said.
"Okay," Destiny whispered as she began to fall asleep.
Taylor’s eyes darted to the sky. It was an amazing night. The sky was black as could be and the stars shone brightly like fireflies. The air smelt of night and the dampness was beginning to set its place. The girl in his arms began to fall asleep as he began to think of everything that had happened in the past few months. Was he ready to handle what he had done? Was he really in love with this girl? Could he see himself with her forever? These questions rang in his head as he sighed and laid down beside the girl who would change his life forever and began to drift into dreamland himself.
