Anyways, yes Mother Culture.
Mother Culture is in everyone's head. Whether they are one of the 'lowly masses' or a politician who looks like he controls the lowly masses. Bill Clinton is just as oblivious to Mother Culture as you are (or WERE). Even counter-culture nuts. People who protest WTO, fur, consumerism. They are just as oblivious. Mother Culture is a greater enemy than cancer. No one knows about her, and if they know something of her existance, they don't think her a threat. She exists as a pacifier. She keeps us happy; keeps us slaving away; keeps us confident that man is THE supreme being. This is where I believe the concept of the Matrix (not the mathematical device-the computer-generated world) origionated. 'The Matrix' is a metaphor for our fight against Mother Culture. Add in some effects, a few changes for entertainment value, and bam, you've got a May blockbuster.
What is the Matrix? The Matrix is a system of lies and disillusions that have conned us all into continuing on without question. It is a system that brainwashes us into submission. It is a delusion brought on by our own minds to keep us from learning the awful, awful truth: that man is a virus. Yes, that's right. Agent Smith had it right. Without Mother Culture, we would all be able to see that man is in fact a virus. We are a parasite, feeding off this planet. Mother Culture disguises this as 'conquering'; but think about it some more.
