1. Please tell the readers about the band. When it was formed, the line-up, releases and stuff like that.
All right! The band was formed in ?89 by Roberto, the guitarrist under the name of SEPOLCRUM. With this monicker two demo tape has been released: ?Anteroom Of The Hell? and Flowers Upon The Grave?. Changed in VII ARCANO the 7?? ?Gather My Blood Forever? was out. I have to say that at that time we used to play a very different style of music, as the band sound was meant as a deeply kind of death/doom, with dark influences especially on the 7??. After separating from incapable musicians, liars, non competent people, stinking dwarfs (still trying to have their peace of shit-cake in pathetic sub musical projects), we released a 3 tracks promo cd, only for ?zines and labels. It sounded very much as heavy/death product in the melodic swedish vein. Now we have our first full lenght album out, hopefully in the very next weeks and the final definitive line up is: Mirko-released anguish and words of torment, Marco-sharpest blades, Roberto-slaughterworks, Gilles-scarmachine, Mauro-beatingdeath.
2. How would you describe your music? What are your musical influences?
Now we have turned in a blasting deathrash machine, a devastating storm of power and aggression. We stand as a fiery rock against the nowadays music scene, based on plastic forms, fag-like gothic/romantic presumed metal clowns, rockstars, and unable frustrated that tries to be more evil as possible hiding from their lack of creativity. We always twist our veins with the likes of Black Sabbath, Mercyful Fate, Candlemass, Slayer, Possessed, Forbidden, Testament, Morbid Angel, At The Gates, Entombed, Dissection and many more?
3. What inspires you lyrically? What topics do the lyrics deal with?
The whole album lyrics? outfit is dealed (even though it?s not a concept) with the ruining of our age?s inner spectrum. ?Inner Deathscapes? is an open window on the decadence of man?s will, a landscape where only false moral buildings can be seen. We can?t communicate because of our incapability to raise down the limitating topics that are part our daily and pathetic behaviour from decades and decades; we are victims of unexpected contraddictions because caught in everlasting streams of paranoia. We look forward to the end with a melancholic razor sharp line of light called hope, but everything?s futile?
4. What is the main purpose of your music? Any political/religious message?
Our music?s purpose? We just want to reap and tear your fucking skull with an overdose of pure melting metal!!!!!!!
Political and religious messages? As I told you before, behind the band stands a outstanding structure of inner research towards the corruption of mankind, passing on through my own visual screenplayng and then I just focus on the sorrounding area of decadence breathing. I don?t really think it?s worth to mention such boring and nauseating topics as religion and politics. I don?t give a goddamn shit to put into music things that in the daily life fuck and suck enough your identity and twist your sight. We live in a country where religion and politics are the most influential factors for the average italian mediocrity, we have to thank in a very huge way people like the Pope or Berlusconi if nowadays in our heads we have much more piss soup than cerebral grey matter. Definitively, our musical project stands away to be a brainwashing product of our heading society?
5. What about live shows? Have you played any gigs lately? How often do you play live?
We don?t play live very often due mostly to the lack of spots, and we prefer to have a few good gig in a particular circumnstance, instead of playing every week in shitplaces in front of the same 20 people (as here use to be)?Recently we played live together with Novembre and the last year we supported Necrodeath in their roman exhibition. We should have some other shows in the next months as well?Our live appearances will be signed on our website anyway?
6. How is the metal scene in your area? Are you in contact with other bands?
HA! We don?t have any scene at all actually?I don?t think anyone would call a scene a bunch of losers that in a way try to give themselves importance creating a mask too large for their needs, or on the other hand you can find people that spend the money (given from their parents) to record cds that will be heard only by their companions in nullity. The problem is that you can mostly choose between individuals that take music as a week-end hobby or assholes that become sudden stars seeing a picture or a review on a magazine. As bands that focus much more on the facts, I?d name Novembre, Aborym, Carnal Rapture and Ghouls?but I?d honestly say that this is exactly the sad situation of the whole Italy..!
7. Is anybody in your band involved in other projects? If yes, who and which?
We don?t have any other projects besides VII Arcano, we prefer to focus on our own band. We could take some other planes only for something really interesting, but considering that time is a killer and that there aren?t so much interesting alternatives in sight?
8. What is the best cd / demo you have heard in the last month?
Well I?d say that in the last months?some cool stuff from our area is two brutal bands named Ghouls and Hour Of Penance but nothing really more? About releases on a huge plane Cadaver Inc and Thorns fucking hit me to the ground?then Diabolical Masquerade, Melechesh, Murder Squad have been surprises too, but definitevely a record that still fucks my stereo is ?The Haunted Made Me Do It?: that?s music that makes you shit in the pants man!!!!
9. What was the last concert you went to? What was the best concert you have been at?
I saw King Diamond last April in Biella, Italy?these are experiences that really mark you way!! Surey one of the best gig I?ve ever seen? Then I?d say At The Gates, Morbid Angel, Metallica, Destruction, Kreator, The Haunted, probably just a very few more?
10. What kind of beverage is your favourite? Any special brands? Do you do any drugs?
Well, let?s see?as a peaceful drink to relax my thirsty stomach I?d say italian Chinotto; to make my nerves bath in a sea of alcohol a perfect drink made of Cointreau and soft beer (Stella Artois); probably my fave beer is Wellington Scotch Ale anyway? despite this periodical alcohol overkill I don?t use any drugs at all?
11. What can really piss you off?
?many things actually?but speaking about today?s music status, I fucking hate all those bands that want and try at any cost to be more original or ?alternative? as possible, with pathetic intellectual pretensions, claiming to separate from the ?metal scene? because they have been developped in a new direction and bla bla bla, but the point is that these insects ate in the metal dish for three or four years failing and being useless, after that they decided to rip off from other musical patterns; in this way they throw dust in the eyes of all these neo ?metal? fans that are too busy to be the dog of their new pussy smellin? mother? It?s ridiculous how empty is the nowadays musical research for something really new, I mean there are very few bands that are really innovative and extreme in the same time?it seems that?s enough to make photos with dark bitchy ladies, and to pump up the keys to the extremes (enough to cover the lack of guitar work) to have ?the new sensation??the same is for this sort of crappy and disgusting american rap-guitar-beverly hills-shitfaces bastards that sells ass paper masked with chocolate as ?new metal??what the fuck is this? What do you want to make me believe, when there?s nothing new and nothing to deal with metal in this ?all production shit sandwiches?..? the same thing is with all this pseudo.power happy metal (with no power at all) disease: you really can?t recognise one band from another? Freshness in music should be a natural phenomenon, not an obligate way to be slave of!!!
One more thing I can?t stand for is the way with the magazines twist your words and elaborate in their discretion, making you seem like a stupid illiterate (without saying when they completely remove the meanings of your statements or thoughts from the original words?). Well, as you can see I could go on a lot just to names things that piss me off?!!!!!
12. What are you plans for the future? Gigs, releases and so on.
In these days we are all impatiently waiting for the release of our first album ?Inner Deathscapes?, that lifted from its original date due to problems with the master cd. An lp format will be released as well (with a Kiss cover as bonus track)?Anyway we?re already writing new stuff for the second coming, that will probably take the name of ?Murder Parade?.
