1. Please tell the readers about the band. When it was formed, the line-up, releases and stuff like that.
Greetings Nocturnaz!
Well, DAEMONIIZ (ex STRAGES) and I (ASTAGOTH) formed Pesttanz in the early
-99, after we had left the band Sorghferd. We found out that the people
there was not much to play with, no really metal in them! Daemoniiz and I
are the only members of Pesttanz, but we use to take in session drummers on
recordings and shit. Our line up is like following, I (Astagoth): Vox,
guitar and Daemoniiz: guitar. So far we have released one demo that is
called "Terra Nova Nostrum" that were recorded and released in June -00.
2. How would you describe your music? What are your musical influences?
Hmm, hard to describe your own music, it's Black/Death Metal, that's all
I can say. Musical influences are also hard to tell, all good metal I guess?
3. What inspires you lyrically? What topics do the lyrics deal with?
It's Daemoniiz that stand for the lyric writing, so it's hard for me to
answer this question. But the topics in the lyrics are usually about remorse
filled death and sorrow themes, with an obscure feeling.
4. What is the main purpose of your music? Any political/religious message?
The main purpose with the music for me is to release my inner feelings;
it's like therapy or something. It's a really good way to express all anger
that grow up inside. There is no political message in the music, which
belongs to the fucking Hard Core scene that fucking sucks. And what to say
about any religious message in the music, of course we are against the
Christianity but.
5. What about live shows? Have you played any gigs lately? How often do you play live?
Pesttanz has never played live so far, but I'm hoping that it will be
some changes in that soon. I'm burning in lust to play live, but we have
some trouble to find a drummer that can play with us live. And the thing
that Daemoniiz and I live in different parts of the country now days don't
make the thing easier!
6. How is the metal scene in your area? Are you in contact with other bands?
I don't have such a grip about the scene in my area yet; I moved here
just a moth or two ago. But I have heard some rumors that it will exist a
Black Metal band here in Eskilstuna, but I'm not sure. And yes, both
Daemoniiz and I have contact with other bands, Daemoniiz have more contacts
then me though.
7. Is anybody in your band involved in other projects? If yes, who and which?
Yes, I'm working with a solo project right now that is called just
Astagoth. I waiting for the drums to be recorded, and when that's done will
it not takes long for the demo to be finished. The different between
Pesttanz and Astagoth is that Astagoth will have some more harmonies and
stuff in the music. The demo will be released on CD in 50 ex. If there is
some interest in that, just contact me at Astagoth .
And what I know is Daemoniiz doesn't involve in any other projects, but I'm
not sure.
8. What is the best cd / demo you have heard in the last month?
Tuff question, the best demo I have heard the last month must be Azalon's
"The Blessing Obscure", and the best CD must be Aeternus "Dark Sorcery" I
think.
9. What was the last concert you went to? What was the best concert you have been at?
The last concert I been to is Wacken, were I saw bands like Dark Funeral,
Marduk, Immortal and Hypocrisy. Then I haven't been on any other Black Metal
concerts, what a shame! But I'm going to see Dark Funeral about a month from
now, and I hope that it will be a good show with pig heads, blood and stuff.
10. What kind of beverage is your favourite? Any special brands? Do you do any drugs?
Beer of course, Carlsberg Hof is a good beer; it might be my favorite
beer. No drug abuse here, not so very metal with drugs. Nothing goes up to a
just enough cold beer and some good fucking metal on the stereo and a sofa!
11. What can really piss you off?
There are a lot of things that really can piss me off, everything from
rotten people to bad music. Especially rotten people actually, like nerds
that pretend being so fucking evil and true Black Metal when they are no
more then just a bunch uncertain shit kids!
12. What are you plans for the future? Gigs, releases and so on.
Pesttanz nearest plan is to record and release our second demo that we
are working on right now we're waiting for the drums to be recorded. And
Daemoniiz must write the last lyrics; I hope that it doesn't will take to
long to get it finished. And after that we have got an offer to record a
split demo with Demoriel also a Swedish underground band that Daemoniiz have
some contact with. But that's nothing that is really decided yet. And after
that, try to get some gigs I assume.
