1. Please tell the readers about the band. When it was formed, the line-up, releases and stuff like that.
Before we go further, I would like to thank you for this interview and
for your interest to KORIHOR. Well, about KORIHOR's history, there's
nothing much to talk about it, we just evolve in the scene in the late days
of '98. Abhor and Josatan used to play in another band (INDEAD, SERPENT and
AGNAS) before we collided. Santo, who is my long time friend started as our
vocalist, but he was not able to do his part and brought forth our four song
demo. So far we haven't got any negative feedbacks except for the raw
production. Our recent line up is still the original, which is Abhor
(guitars), Santo (guitar, vocals), Obispo (bass) and Josatan (drums).
2. How would you describe your music? What are your musical influences?
It's hard to label our musick and it's not necessary to be labeled, but
some called us Black/Death and others labeled us as a Holocausted Black
Metal. But if we'll label our musick ourselves, we'd like to be call it as
Black "Horned Vampyric' Metal (thanks to Roy of underworld zine). Our
musick is unrelenting in all department, with no trendy female vocals and
"beautiful" keyboard melodies. Watch out for our next material which
includes fresh new ideas. It's still fast and melodic with a bit of
technicality. Musical influences? The list would go further, but I have to
mention bands like DISSECTION, MARDUK, MORBID ANGEL, SETHERIAL, GOD
DETHRONED and SENTENCED.
3. What inspires you lyrically? What topics do the lyrics deal with?
Abhor did all the lyrics in our materials and he basically deals with his
hatred towards religion, blasphemy, personal hatred (that's why he called
himself as Abhor) and vampirism. But it's not the typical Elizabeth Bathory
theme, he just compared vampirism with our modern surroundings. Like for
instance, the religions , this group sucks money to their weak and innocent
victims.
4. What is the main purpose of your music? Any political/religious message?
Actually, we're not creating musick or anybody. We do it for ourselves.
Metal is our life and it has occupied the biggest part of our minds and
heart. So, as long as we enjoy ourselves, we're not going to stop creating
miseries. About the lyrical concept, please refer to the previous question.
5. What about live shows? Have you played any gigs lately? How often do you play live?
We usually play in the rat infested bar here in our country.
Whooooaaaahhhh... oppss, sorry! I always get sleepy whenever I remember the
place, I'm sick and bored playing in that same venue again and again. So, I
like to get the attention of concert-promoters everywhere, pull us in this
shit load country and we'll play our stuff in your face!!!
6. How is the metal scene in your area? Are you in contact with other bands?
There's nothing serious to talk about our metal scene, we're promulgated
with loads of posers, morons, backstabbers, rip-offs, etc. I have warned
you as always be aware. But always in almost everything there's a better
side, so you can check out my webzine. (Extrememetal ) for
more information on our scene and in Asia and Australia as well.
7. Is anybody in your band involved in other projects? If yes, who and which?
No! No one in us involve in another project, we swore to each other that
we'll dedicate our full time in KORIHOR. To create a good and strong music,
you must concentrate in one active band and not play in another mother
fucking side bands. It's hard to make a tight music, so you'll burn so much
time, effort and dedication to attain your goal. We're still progressing as
musicians and we'll not just stop there.
8. What is the best cd / demo you have heard in the last month?
This month, I just got hold of 3 precious materials that digs deeply into
my veins. Angel Corpse "Inexorable". It blown me away to pieces, GOD
DETHRONED, "Bloody Blasphemy" - a fine piece of technical Black/Death and
CHILDREN OF BODOM "Hatebreeder" - check out the riff, it's classic in the
making. For the demo check out for yourself BLOODSHED "Laughter of
Destruction".
9. What was the last concert you went to? What was the best concert you have been at?
Like I said earlier, I always get bored remembering those concerts we
have been into, but we always give our 100% in every live acts.
10. What kind of beverage is your favourite? Any special brands? Do you do any drugs?
This is the best question in your interview pal, hmmm... you must know
first that Filipino is one of the most heavy drinkers in the round shit we
called earth. We in the band try almost every alcoholic beverage as long
as it won't poison us. We drink as heavy as fuck. Imagine a drinking spree
2 to 3 days (morning till night) in succession and sometimes exceed. You
won't believe it, but it's true. As for the drugs, I'm a former drug user.
I almost got paranoid, I'm trying everything that can temporarily get me
out of this chaotic and problematic realities. But now I'm controlling
myself, it's very hard to be a drug dependent, drugs is the best thing
happened in this world as long as it won't manipulate your life.
11. What can really piss you off?
There's a lot of things that can really piss me off and the list would
go further. So I'll just figure out something that is related to our
underground scene. Ripp-offs, trendy tribute albums, religion, and
backstabbers really keeps me irritated.
12. What are you plans for the future? Gigs, releases and so on.
There's nothing much to tell about KORIHOR's future. We're still in
search for labels, just always visit our website (Korihor) to
keep updated.
13. Thatīs it for now. Thank you for the interview. If you would like to insult and/or offend someone, please do it here. If you have a closing remark/statement, this is also the place.
Thanks for this interview, I hope your readers will get something out
of this. I don't want to offend or insult someone, so anyone should support
the underground and stop destroying others reputation.
