1. Please tell the readers about the band. When it was formed, the line-up, releases and stuff like that.
A band from Curitiba, Dragon Heart was formed in July 1997. Influenced by the 80's Heavy Metal, mixing elements of Medieval, Classic, and Celtic Music. The band makes a Power Metal with developed melodies and epic vocals. The name, Dragon Heart, was chosen from the story of a knight that killed dragons for vengeance. The Dragon Heart's logo was designed by the drummer, Marcelo Caporasso. All the covers and pictures in the booklets were made by the band.
The formers are Eduardo Marques (vocals and guitar), Marco Caporasso (vocals and guitar), Mauricio Taborda (vocals and bass), and Marcelo Caporasso (drums). The band remains from another band from Curitiba called Brujah, which played traditional Heavy Metal. In Brujah Marco Caporasso played the drums, Mauricio Taborda the bass, and Eduardo Marques who at this time only played the guitar. They went as far as recording two songs in a collection that ended up not being released. In that period of time, they decided to finish their activities in Brujha to make a Heavy Metal with more power and energy.
The first change was to find a new drummer; they asked Marcelo Caporasso, Marco's brother, to join the band. He brought the power and precision that they were looking for, besides his wide experience in other bands and a large knowledge on what they wanted to do... the real Power Metal. With this, Marco began to play the guitar. After looking for several vocalists and hadn't found anyone that would apply to the music, Eduardo took the vocals and more recently Taborda and Marco are also singing.
Today, the band has in its set list more than fifteen songs. Two of these songs, Sir Lockdunam and Mystical Forest, played with acoustic guitars and medieval instruments. Dragon Heart also plays in its concerts covers of bands such as Blind Guardian, Grave Digger, Gamma Ray and Accept.
2. How would you describe your music? What are your musical influences?
The DragonHeart's music is a mix between The Heavy Metal and the Epic Music. We come of from the Old School of Heavy Metal. It is fast with strong melodies. Our influences are the 80's Heavy Metal, Classic Music, Celtic Music, Medieval Music and bands like Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Manowar, Running Wild, Helloween, Savatage.
3. What inspires you lyrically? What topics do the lyrics deal with?
We are inspired for the Medieval Stories and the Nordic Legends. Books like The Lord of the Rings, The Mists of Avalon, The Simarilion, The Hobbit and the movies like Conan The Barbarian, Excalibur, Merlin, Brave Heart inspire us too.
4. What is the main purpose of your music? Any political/religious message?
We want to tell dark and fantastic stories. We want to be like the Bards that lived in the Medieval Times playing and touching the people imagination. Our cds are like books with too many stories about Knights, Steel, Honor, Battles and Proud.
5. What about live shows? Have you played any gigs lately? How often do you play live?
We love playing live!!!!!!!! When we linten the fans to sing our songs is very excite. We see the fans like friends and when the people enjoy our concert and have fun we felt the same things. Once a guy that wacthed our concert said: "I had felt in the midle of the Battle,fighting with my sword while you played". I think that this phrase resume what is the DragonHeart Show. We play live about 1 time for month. We were the opening act in the Nightwish show here in our home town. It was a fucking great experience.
6. How is the metal scene in your area? Are you in contact with other bands?
It is pretty cool. The scene is growing up in the last years and too many good bands have appeared here. We are having too many internacional concerts in Brazil and the local musicians can play beside of this foreing bands. We are in contact with too many heavy metal bands like the Steel Lord that play a excelent power metal, Sad Theory a original band that play a mix between The Old School Heavy Metal and Black Metal, and the Doomsday Ceremony a great local band that has released his first work a few months ago and are knowed here.
7. Is anybody in your band involved in other projects? If yes, who and which?
No, The DragonHeart is like a family and we don't need work in other projects. All our creative energies are put in our compositions.
8. What is the best cd / demo you have heard in the last month?
The Doomsday Ceremony's Demo. It is a professional band and play a interesting Heavy Metal.
9. What was the last concert you went to? What was the best concert you have been at?
In the last Saturday I wacthed the Stratovarius Concert. The Blind Guardian Concert and The Kiss Concert both in São Paulo City about 2 years ago were amazing.
10. What kind of beverage is your favourite? Any special brands? Do you do any drugs?
Beer. We drink a lot of mugs. Most songs of us were have composed beside of her (ahahahahaa). We don't like of Drugs because this shit control the people's life.
11. What can really piss you off?
Eletronic Music and the Voluntary Ignorance.
12. What are you plans for the future? Gigs, releases and so on.
We have always released our first álbum in the beginig of the year and the Heavy Metal Magazines and the people have liked very much, this cd is called UNDERDARK. Now we are working in a new album. It will be conceptual and will tell the storie of the Dragonheart Knight and his army. We have already been on studio recording the pré production of this CD that will call Thone of the Alliance. We are searching for a new label to work togheter to release this album.
