Spirits of Florida

*** As the title suggests, this was written in Florida, at the exact same time as "Family". It is basically random thoughts; very stream-of-consciousness. ***

the words come
not linear, logical, orderly
but in a jumble of
flashes of
colorful words and phrases
each battling for a space
thoughts that string together to make
no sense at all

soap bubble burst lightly against my skin
experiencing epiphanies in ham
(3 pounds, 3 brains
3 entire life experiences in this
slab of meat that we are devouring devouring....)
staring at candle flames
and did you know that there are two flames,
one behind the other?

the fork touches her lips
she devours the words melting on her tongue
feels the gentle pressure of the wind against her skin

how can i turn away
brother/sister go dancing through my head
but no, that is already taken
damn
ah well, the dreaming tree has died
(brings a strange scene to mind, never fail
weary father, prodigal daughter
in the rain reunited
i should make music videos)

yesterday i saw a goddess
she was playing the piano over a volcano
and she said to me, child
we are all just thoughts
in the mind of the universe

my christian half believes that
it resonates
but the pagan in me wonders
if the universe is not just
a memory of ours?

sand under my feet
even sand is divine
if only because it sticks so well

i think to myself
(oh, continually
way too much)
and try to summon up Mars
to help me write another poem
