Adonis

***this was written when I was bored in church, like many of my other poems. It's supposedly about some dork that I used to like, but it's actually more written to a certain ideal***

Adonis-
Beauty

Stepping down from your gilded altar
Mind of the world, face of a star
Heart like the sun in glory
Radiance flowing through your veins
And showing through your skin
Evident in all you do
Setting me aflame with a look
Setting me trembling
With the slightest graze
From your glistening fairydust fingertips
Making me freeze like a stunned animal
Caught up in the headlights
Not to move, break free
Every word I would say
Dropping to the floor
And shattering like china
The phrases I would use to dazzle

But Adonis, my opium, perfection that is lost,
My hidden wonder, the mind behind my thoughts
My lover in dreams and my addiction in demand
Your will is my obsession and your wish my command

Simply,
Beauty;
Adonis.
