University Bell Tower

Anyone live in Kansas? Because, I recently had a horrible experience there, and it is still keeping me up at night.

On October 10, 2002, I was visiting a friend who lives in Lawrence, KS (between Topeka and Kansas City, home of KU and the Jayhawks), and he and his girlfriend decided to show me around the University. Along Memorial Drive, there is a large tower called the Campinelle, and it was built to memorialize the students who went to WW1. We went inside it, and there is just one room, tall ceilinged and vaulted, with tons of names carved into the walls. I remember, that day was unusually hot for October, probably about 79 degrees, and was very clear. Perfect day time ghost hunting weather, in my opinion.

Anyway, we had stepped in there, and all of a sudden, we heard a roaring yell from above us. My friend describes it as a "mixture of an ox's lowing, and of a lion roaring." We just looked at each other, thinking it was the bell tower's system on the fritz, or something, but then a cold air sort of, drained into us. I remember it was like some sort of hole had appereared on my head, and cold air was seeping in. The temperature was palpable. We ran out as fast as possible. Anybody have any idea what that was? I don't, and the speakers of the tower had been turned off, so it couldn't have been that. This was seriously freaky, and I have been suffering nightmares of long stairs leading up to death, which I have heard haunts many dreams of people who have suffered experiences in towers. E- mail me if you have any ideas.
