BikeWorld Special Party ('01) was not just a trackday but also a test-drive day where one could ride all the new Hondas, Kawasakis and Ducatis (Dukes only up to 748/900SS) free, with free beer, food and bands, girls etc. (not bad, eh?)
Of course I was mostly on my TL 1000 S, but I did try a few other bikes as well.
I rode Kwaks ZX-9R, ZX-6R and ZX-12R. Honda VTR800 (the new Blade was taken all the time, surprisingly). Ducati 900SS and 748R. I must say that the Duke 748 had the best chassis of the day but the front brakes really needed a handful and the mojo was really lame. The TLS looses just an inch on weight/chassis-stability, but wins by lightyears in braking and engine performance.
Alastaro is quite flat, but I really like the bends. Safety-areas are also wide enough for 2-wheeling as well. Nice!
The bend opening to the main straight is the kinkiest of them all to my mind. You slow down to around 20km/h where the bike really loses its stability as gyroscopic forces fade. When through, you just hit it and tug behind the screen.
So far I've ridden the following bikes @ track:
ZX9-R 2001
ZX636-R 2002
VFR800 2001
Transalp 650 2002
Goldwing 2002
Hornet 919 2002
XX 1100 2002
SP-1 2001
Fireblade 2001
VTX 1300 2003
GSX-R 1000 2001
TL 1000 S 1997
998 Testastretta 2002
SS 900 FF 2001
748S 2001
R1100S 2002
F650CS 2002
The best have been:
1. Suzuki GSX-R 1000
2. SP-1 2001 (Ohlins front, rear, steering...)
3. 998 Testastretta 2002
4. TL 1000 S
Self-centered bastard! ;) My pages these are anyway:)
