writeup sent in by an old friend of JONESY - ALAN MERRILL of ARROWS, talks about the PISTOLS old days, see bottom....

STEVE JONES has been a dj at 103.1 in L.a. he began in feb '04, from 12 - 2 in the afternoon , m - f, he plays old punk and reggae, etc. with his assistant SHOVEL ( this comment added 3 -22 - '04 )

fast forward to the summer '04

JONESy's JUKEBOX

weve been listening since he started in the winter of '04, in the summer of '04 we began to document some things he talks about,

well now STEVE JONES now has the best show in L.a., only thing he comes on too late in the afternoon, we prefer if he were on at least an hour earlier, he has now been on the air for 2 hrs a day m - fri, anyways were not complaining, it's great to hear him talk about the old days, like he did today with SONIC YOUTH,.....he's had many famous people on his show lately ; JOHNNY RAMONE, JOHN DOE, DEBBY HARRY, and so on............

sometimes he makes funny jokes and nioses, about the music, well he plays lotsa 70s glam and punk and pop, and lotsa reggae and soul from those days too, and lotsa new music too, like the FLASH EXPRESS...... some of the more obscure glam bands he plays have been ; IRON VIRGIN, CHICORY TIP, and would u believe SHABBY TIGER ? ........he made a funny comment about them when the PISTOLS happening to be opening for them one nite back when they first started, for this story you'll have to go to the 70s invasion page on SHABBY TIGER at the bottom of page 21, see the links......

he has played reggae star SUSAN CADOGAN, also DAVE and ANSIL COLLINS, plays PRINCE fairly often too, and once in a while JIMMY CLIFF, plays often ; ROXY MUSIC, T. REX, BOWIE, SWEET, SLADE, etc, and once in a while STEVE HARLEY, also plays lots of ; HEARTBREAKERS, RAMONES, BUZZCOCKS, SHAM 69, BLONDIE, DEVO,........all that old stuff we love.........and u can access the show live from your computer anywhere around the world, see this link at 103.1

for a good article on the show see this link -

once a brainless 19 yr girl old called in and says 'who is this guy, get rid of him', we look forward to hearing this show every week, and we contacted him in late may '04 in reference to the Shabby Tiger story, and he writes back and says 'where can i get a 70s invasion cd' ?

we were so proud :),,,,,,but he has not written back, and we don't blame him, looking at our site would u write us ?

STEVE JONES

on sept 2nd '04 the day before his birthday he surprised everyone by leading his show off with a long forgotten folk gem of the early 70s by JONATHAN EDWARDS called 'SUNSHINE' * ....U MAY REMEMBER THESE LYRICS 'SUNSHINE GO AWAY TODAY I DON 'T FEEL MUCH LIKE DANCIN'.........u can see the complete lyrics on our very last page, in our gateway 4.....

on sept 13th he and SHOVEL his radio show partner talked about the RAMONES tribute show that he played an important part of this weekend....

fast forward to sept 17th, while listening to Jonesy's Jukebox that day at 12 Steve said Johnny passed away the nite before and they'll be doing a special braodcast that day which was the last interview Steve did with him which sounded like a one that we heard a few weeks prior to his death, the next day Steve talked about how depressing it was for Johnny to die, next Johnny was cremated, Steve talked a bit about this too and talked about how great his guitar playing was, and how his family and friends had gathered.....

we ourselves at the 70s invasion have always been HUGE RAMONES fans, hoping that Johnny is in a better place right now..........

well seems Steve has been playing a lot of the rare glam tracks from the RPM releases, the 2nd week of sept he played PAUL ST JOHN 'the FLYING sAUCERS HAVE LANDED', GREAT song that one, on sept 22nd he played the DAMNED's 'MORNING BIRD', and SPIV's 'BEAUTIFUL CHILD' these 3 are reviewed on page 21, and can u believe within the last week he has played ZOLAR - X's 'TIMELESS', a few days later he played 'SPAGE AGE LUV'.......

on sept 30th Jonesy's show hit an all-time LOW point with idiot courtney love on, why why was she there ?? nearly as bad was the one with guest non-actor GARY OLDMAN......

much better the next day Oct 1st to have heard interviews with SIOUXSIE, and BUDGIE from SIOUXSIE, and the BANSHEES, plus surviving N.Y. DOLLS, DAVID JOHANSEN, and SYLVAIN SYLVAIN........Great show that one,

one show he had on a friday featured the MOONEY SUZUKI, they played some good songs, we liked their acoustic 'OH SUSANNA', this one was nicely played....

on the oct 8th show Steve began with the following 70s Glam Rock tracks ;

1 SUPERGRASS 'pumpin' your stereo'

( we did not like this new song, much better are the 70s glam tracks that followed ) ;

2 NICK GILDER 'HOT CHILD IN THE CITY' '79

3 HELLO 'N.Y. GROOVE' '75

4 RADIO STARS 'IS IT REALLY NECCESSARY' ? '77

5 BE BOP DELUXE 'MAID IN HEAVEN' '75

6 'SILVERHEAD' 'ACE SUPREME' '72....

hey we got a request, how about the 'TEEN WAVE' by RICKI WILDE, or some STEPHANIE de SYKES, come on !

stay tuned for more songs and news of the show, we tune in every day...........

BRIAN WILSON of the BEACH BOYS came in towards the end of sept. that was a good show, and on oct 15 '04 NANCY SINATRA herself was his guest, he asked her if she had ever heard SID's version of 'MY WAY' surprisingly she said no, when Sid began singing we turned it off cause we had heard this song earlier in the day, turned it back on only to hear her laughing and Steve talking....

WHAT WAS HER REACTION ? anyone know ?

Nov

Steve had some good guests on this month, we'll go over some highlights we thought were interesting....

Nov 3rd the guest was MICHAEL DES BARRES singer of 70s glam rock band SILVERHEAD, and later DETECTIVE, was nice to hear them talk about the old days, MR. DES BARRES commented that he saw the PISTOLS at winterland in '78 and said 'he never saw anything so chaotic in his life', that he remembered JOHNNY asking the audience at the end if they had ever felt cheated, then he recalls seeing SID's backside to the audience as he was picking coins off the ground that people threw onto the stage, and he said something along the lines that by then the punk movement was just more than just the 'songs', it meant something more......

this was the day after the election, Steve had a good chioce to lead off the show with KEITH RICHARDS' 'U SHOULDN'T TAKE IT SO HARD'

Nov 8th

to lead off this show Steve chose the worst crap we ever heard in our LIVES !! black sabbath's 'sweet leaf', man that song really blows, as does everything else that pile of crap sabbath ever released....better was an obscure track he played called 'DRIVING SIDEWAYS' by the SHARKS , they were an early 70s band notable for having CHRIS SPEDDING in the lineup, it was allright, kind of a middle of the road rock song led by piano, the singer had a gravely vioce,.......... he talked about when he was 15 and he was doing some manual labor digging a hole in a guy's backyard for extra money and he watched this band the SHARKS practicing in the house and commented how he thought it would be cool to be a musician....

COOK and JONES in the PROFESSIONALS

this 3rd photo here was taken around '80 with another bandmate, by the time '81 came around this band recorded a GREAT lp 'I DIDN'T SEE IT COMING', it contains many EXCELLENT songs such as 'KICK DOWN THE DOORS', also search out some singles that did not make the lp such as 'HERE WE GO AGAIN', ......... *

once in a while he'll play a track by the PROFESSIONALS, on june 11th '04 he played 'PAYOLA'.......on the 8th of april '05 he played 'LITTLE BOYS IN BLUE'.....were hoping he'll play some LIGHTNING RAIDERS, the band he and COOK were in after the PISTOLS broke up in '78.........

on Nov 12th Steve had on as a guest KEITH MORRIS of the CIRLE JERKS, nice to hear them chat about the old days.....

NOV 18th

Steve says if he had a band today he would have a chapel in the corner in their studio, so everyone could stop and take a prayer break if they like ! :) funny, funny, hhhhhhhmmmmmm think he got this from looking at our site ? well we know for a fact that he got the info on a lot of these lost 70s Glam bands here at the 70s invasion, were just glad he's playing all these tracks from the Rpm comps, plus bands like ZOLAR X , MILK and COOKIES, etc....

Nov 19th was a repeat interview with PUNK/REGGAE LEGENDARY producer DON LETTS, was good to hear them talk about the old days as well, good to hear them bash BAD bands like Blink 182 and Korn, we agree these bands are real trailer trash !

Dec 2nd '04

JONESY says he and SHOVEL will be getting a webcam, we'll mention how u can find it here soon, on dec 1st '04 we noticed something when u type in jonesy's jukebox with the apostrophe ' at yahoo this page is first even before indie 103.1, without the apostrophe up comes our friend's site JADE BLACKMORE, she documents ths show everyday with much more detail than we do, and for those interested she interviewed one of us last week so check her site soon for the world forst 70s invasion interview.........:)

Dec 3rd

Steve had on DWEEZIL ZAPPA, they played some of FRANK'S old tunes, some other good stuff too, but the show is starting to go down the drain when u play crap like judas priest, and uriah heep, what next ted nugent ? LORD HELP US ALL..........

Dec 6th

well the show is getting better, allthough bad songs are starting to creep in, this is what happens whenever someone gets something good going...........on mon Steve played a request for the these show to CROSSROADS which is an old bbc soapopera, just so happens that Mrs Stephanie de Sykes sung 'Born with a Smile of my Face' which we were told was the theme song for the show ?? so soon we'll sort out this question....

Dec 7th

HAWKWIND's 'SILVER MACHINE' was one of the highlights today amongst others.........

Dec 10th

the end of the week found the band BERLIN as guests in the first half hour of the show and they played some nice sounding music including a Christmas number called 'metro' or something, the gal TERRI was really laughing at Jonesy's comments, good to hear some Christmas music from the past he chose, later he played ZOLAR X's 'ROCKET ROLL', followed by BRETT SMILEY's 'SPACE AGE', and other sci-fi tracks........:)

Dec 13th

the show hit another all time low opening with motley crue, barf ! this is complete trailer trash, the show improved vastly after this low point, how could it not ? Jonesy spent the week playing lotsa Christmas music and a wide variety, he left for a vacation with SHOVEL on fri the 17th and wished everyone a Merry Christmas, ........

hey steve how about having a prayer session soon at the beginning of the next show ? ......afterall the philosopher Seneca said 'MANKIND HAS BEEN GIVEN THE POWER OF PRAYER TO ALTER HISTORY'............ :)

well in jan '05 Jonesy has been back, and it seems he honored our prayer request or someone's ?? he quoted from the bible live in early '05 and improvised as he went on

Jan 7 '05

Jonesy gets back in form and plays some unique songs amongst them ; Bob & Marcia 'Pied Piper', and Jimmy Cliff 'Wonderful World, Beautiful People', a few days later he mentions he met CLIFF RICHARD and says maybe CLIFF will b eon the show in april, this is unerving because Cliff was one of the main folks against the Pistols an dpunk rock when they surfaced, he claimed punk is evil and so on........

jan 11

good thing we missed this one because many people complained, he starts playing boston, journey, etc WAIT IT GETS WORSE !

Jan 13

good chioce in playing BARRY RYAN's 'ELIOSE', it was a uk classic of the 60s, says the DAMNED later covered this song....he played the RADIO STARS on this day also, now how often do u hear them on the radio ??

jan 18th

playing PAT BENATAR was a bad move, ( WAIT IT GETS WORSE ), thumbs up for playing NICK GILDER, and VODKA COLLINS, he talked about Merrill's glam band from japan on this day....

jan 21st

2 days earlier he whistled a black sabbath song, one of lost his lunch, it went downhill from there, remember when STEVE himself commented how bands like PEARL JAM and NIRVANA have no talent ? well on this day Vedder himself was singing songs and talking, we could not listen , we turned it off....around this time he was also playinmg bad 80s metal, bands so bad, they're almost as bad as sabbathg,m so we won' t mention them here....

jan 26th

the show hit an ALL TIME Low today when PETER FRAMPTON came on and sang songs with JONESY, this guy was first on the list to condemn the Pistols back then ( Note; if u have saw our page 7 then u can see where we put down Frampton 's music, ain' t nothing worse than 'do u feel like i do' ( barf ! ) actually he did have some good music when he was with Humble Pie, and played on Jobriath records and others, but look what happened........Frampton himself says that the Pistols put him out of business............so waht was the point of this show ??

well seems some have given up on the show after this, allthough not us we'll keep listening because we figured it could only get better after this.....

jan 27th

ERIC BURDON of the ANIMALS came on and talked about the old days, now this was a nice change, hell of a lot better than vedder or frampton !

well another singer we don' t care about came on and sang, and left ho hum.......

feb 1st

DOCTORS OF MADNESS was played on Jonesy's show, it was from their 3rd lp, a song we never heard before, and it was great, he talked about how when the Pistols had their first show outside of london in early '76 opening up for the Doctors and that they did not let them use their monitors, so when they were onstage, Jonesy stole their money from their clothes backstage ! says he ran into KID STRANGE a few yrs back and he laughed when he told him about this !

feb 2nd

he's back playing classic rock.......why ?.....well there was an inspiring cut CURTIS MAYFIELD's 'SUPERFLY'........later a CARPENTERS cut was played,.......not bad, but where is the future of this show headed ?

img March 7th

the show was going downhill for a while with some bad guests and so forth but it got better since then, on the 7th he played KEITH RICHARDS 'TAKE IT SO HARD',...how often do u hear that on the radio ? and a 70s power-pop band called the RUBINOOS 'Perfect Stranger'.......( no one plays them on the air ).....we give Jonesy credit for going where no one else has gone before....on march 8th says Steve 'hair metal was the World Wrestling Federation of music'.

march 10th

great track he began today with 'GOODBYE TO U' by PATTI SMYTH, this was a real gem of the early 80s, he also played a DOCTORS of MADNESS track this day....

Mar 11

GOOD chat today with guest IAN HUNTER of MOTT the HOOPLE, somewhere around this time or perhaps it was closer to mid march after Steve had rep[orted getting sick and sicker he condemns MAD COW DISEASE on the air, and this was in the beginning of that show, even if he was joking it was A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION....

Mar 15th

Steve was in an old fashioned mood this day, playing such WW2 favorites such as KAY STARR's 'Wheel of Fortune' and VERA LYNNE's 'White Cliffs of Dover', man love those songs ! later in the month he starts singing 'who do u think your fooling mr hitler' :)

Mar 21

the STONES 'DANCE LITTLE SISTER' was nice to hear this day, but why in GOD's name would someone play JOE WALSH ?????? aaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhhhhh !!

Mar 22nd

MRS. MARIANNE FAITHFUL was a very welcomed guest to the show, they chatted about the old days when she was hanging out with the STONES, great show !

Mar 24th

MICK ROCK was there to promote his book of photos of the 70s glam era it is called 'BLOOD and GLITTER', out now....

Mar 28th

earlier in the month Steve played JONATHAN RICHMAN's 'ROADRUNNER', today he played what sounded like a GREAT demo of this song which sounded a whole lot like the PISTOLS live version of the STOOGES 'NO FUN'.......and a few days prior STEVE had played a ENTHUSIASTIC really GREAT acoustic version of 'I WANNA BE ME',....

April 1st

MOBY was a guest today, they had a good chat, and played some tunes....

April 5th

LISA MARIE PRESLEY, ELVIS's daughter was the guest and she started at the very beginning, great converstaion here, he was asking her if it was hard to be the king's daughter, she said yes at times and she wanted to be recognized as her own person, also she said when he died when she was 9 she was known as a sad child, and grew up with a stepdad who was somewhat abusive, Steve related and said when he was younger he had a lot of anger he even punched a baby kitten once, and said his stepfather was abusive too....

they went on to talk about their lives and somewhere along the lines they Steve mentioned how the govt. wants to pull the wool over people's eyes, but they did play some great songs from Lisa Marie's new lp 'WHAT NOW' the songs were 'IDIOT', a cool rockin' tune with electric guitar, and a cover of the RAMONES 'HERE TODAY, GONE TOMMORROW' which was chosen by JOHNNY RAMONE himself who was supposed to play on it before he died, so JONESY filled in for him on this cut and on 'idiot' laying down some great playing, yea we thought these tunes were rather GOOD rock music with nice vocals, but why why would someone cover 'dirty laundry' ?.........later in the show famous punk music producer STEVE LILLYWHITE came in and they had a good chat also about the old days and he talked about producing ULTRAVOX's 1st lp amongst others....

April 6th

this was a repeat with guest RUNAWAY CHERIE CURRIE chatting with Steve and her son

April 8th

steve opened the show singing a tune he made up on the spot it sounded like, he was singing about Chelsea football, good guitar playing as always, and he played some of the PISTOLS music after the members left the band , and he played a new one by GLEN MATLOCK and the PHILISTINES called 'White Knuckle Ride', good rock tune !

April 12th

played Stooges 'Real Cool Time', and the Faces 'Miss Judy'

April 14th

naturally we like it when steve plays the 70s pop stuff this day he played Jigsaw 'Sky High', and Brandy 'Looking Glass'.......

April 18th

he was playing power-pop this day inclduing the Raspberries hit 'I Wanna Be With You', and Milk and Cookies 'little lost and innocent', but why does he play crap like fleetwood mac and this bad 80s stuff people could never stand ?? BARF !......we have to say people turn the station away when they hear this shit believe us.....

Apr. 25th

this monday steve said it was glam day and he played a fine collection of 70s glam ; T.REX, BOWIE, MOTT the HOOPLE, etc with latter day glam such as good songs from the VELVET GOLDMINE collection like SHUDDER TO THINK's 'HOT ONES'....

Apr. 26th

steve gets extra points for playing the theme song from 'WELCOME BACK KOTTER' by JOHN SEBASTIAN, he also played a good KEITH RICHARDS song....

end of Apr.

not sure what day it was, but somewhere in the end of april - beginning of May steve had a great set , the 1st 5 songs he played were as follows ;

1 THE KING 'SOMETHING ELSE' .....this guy the KING sounds like ELVIS backed by RAMONES music, here he was doing the old EDDIE COCHRAN tune ( also covered by the Pistols ), hey this was cool, MUD was doing this approach ( ELVIS/RAMONES) yrs , and yrs ago, wonder if many americnas have discovered MUD yet ? THE KING has an lp out called 'GRAVELANDS', which was reelased in '99....

2 THE WHO 'SUMMERTIME BLUES, 3 RASPBERRIES 'TONITE',

4 HONEYBUS 'CAN' T LET MAGGIE GO' ( this one was a unique song in a folk-pop vein of the early 70s ) Steve says it was used in a bread commercial in the u.k........something about the british are coming...........5 BE BOP DELUXE 'MAID IN HEAVEN'......... img

May 3rd

songs today included the HEARTBREAKERS 'BORN TO LOSE', also ROD STEWART's 'THE KILLING OF GEORGIE', and TONY JO WHITE's 'POLK SALAD ANNIE'.........

May 4th

BBC producer TONY WILSON was the guest this day, he was the one who booked the PISTOLS back in '76 for the famous BILL GRUNDY show ( he interviewed steve this show, good show, but he mentioned the word 1976 one too many times though )

May 6th

well in strolls in MALCOLM McCLAREN and has a long chat with Steve, ( they had not saw one another in 10 yrs ), says Steve when he first sees him 'WHERE's MY MONEY' ? :)........mostly they talked about the old days, and you've heard the story of the Pistols formation over and over so u can guess what they discussed......but it was great to hear, at one point STEVE SAYS 'ARE U A VEGETARIAN' , BUT MALCOLM WAS SO BUSY TALKING HE DID NOT HEAR HIM.......

May 10th

STEVE announced that this day was SID's birthday, and that he woulda been 48....he played Sid's most famous 3 cuts from the SWINDLE lp, plus 'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN' which as Pistol fans know Sid plays on.....also played some other great cuts from the ONLY ONES, the BAD BRAINS, the DAMNED, plus surprisingly the TOP of the POPS theme song !

May 12th

AIMEE MANN was the guest today, they had a nice chat, and she played some very peaceful acoustic music which is a good chioce at 12 noon.....

May 13th

today's guests were members from the WEDDING PRESENT, and the EELS, a version of 'POLK SALAD ANNIE' was played by Steve and guest....

May 16th

THIS DAY WAS THE WORST DAY IN THE HISTORY OF JONESY's JUKEBOX, FOR ONCE WE MUST VIOCE A REAL COMPLAINT !......he began by playing some crud that sounded very uninspiring, we didn't hear when he introduced the guest as u know 103.1 often fades out every 10 minutes or so especially on cloudy days in L.a. , but this GUY HE HAD ON SOUNDED SO DAMN BORING WITH A SOUTHERN ACCENT, AND SOUNDED VERY OUT OF PLACE WITH THE BORING BORING NOWHERE MUSIC HE WAS PLAYING, THEN WHEN WE HEARD THAT HE WAS SPEAKING WITH billy gibbons of zztop, one of us at the 70s invasion lost his lunch

YES IT WAS THAT BAD, THAT LOSER FROM THE WORST BAND OF ALL TIME HAD NO PLACE ON THE SHOW, HIS VIOCE WAS MORE IRRITATING THAN DICKY BARRETT COULD EVER HOPE TO BE, POINT BLACK THIS SHOW STUnK SO BADLY AND WHAT WAS VIOCED WAS SO POINTLESS, IT' MADE US WONDER IF IT's TIME FOR JONESY's JUKEBOX TO END, AFTERALL zztop WAS EXACTLY THE KIND OF CRAP THAT FILLED FM RADIO UP BACK IN THE 70s WITH BORING, BANAL MUSIC THAT WAS MADE FOR FOLKS WITH LOW IQ's, AND THEY STAND FOR EVERYTHING THE PISTOLS WERE DEAD SET AGAINST, please no more idiots like this on the show, please !

OURSELVES AND OUR FRIENDS FELT VERY INSULTED THAT THIS GUEST WAS ON THERE, MORE THAN ANY OTHER PERSON THIS WAS THE WORST !

May 17th '05

so how does he begin this show ? with more crap from zztop, again we were feeling sick the second this came on, but the show got better as R-n-R SWINDLE producer JULIEN TEMPLE called in, then legendary STONES producer ANDREW LOOG OLDHAM came in for a chat.........

May ( last week ) well allthough we listen everyday the show is on, we forget to document a few days but in the last week of may Steve had some biblical words for his listeners he said 'WHAT WAS THE BREAD THAT JESUS ATE' ? EZEKIEL ? EZEKIEL BREAD WHAT IS THAT' ? THEN SOME GAL CALLS HIM ON HIS CELL PHONE AND HE ANSWERS, THEN HE SAYS ' JESUS HAD LIKED HEINZ BEANS, 1000's ATE IT, THATS WHY THEY CALLED IT HEINZ 57' !, he then goes into a version of the KINKS 'APEMAN' :)

June 3rd

good show today, the 2nd track was KRAFTWERK's 'COMPUTER OPERATOR', followed by GARY NUMAN's 'CARS', bit later JOHN WAITE of 70s rock band the BABY's and another bloke came in for an interview and chat and played some tunes.......

June 8th

JOOK's 'AGGRAVATION PLACE' was played today, this must be a first for Jonesy's show, he talked about Rpm Records just releasing this disc, but then he said they never send him anything, well we were puzzled that he said this because after Jonesy wrote us last year asking where can he get music from our site, we referred him to one of the key 70s coordinators behind the whol JUNKsHOPgLAM Phenomenom at Rpm records and he told us he would mail Steve out a bunch of stuff........a short time later he began to play this stuff all over the air, maybe he forgets where it all came from, can't expect legends to remember every little detail, now can we ?...........the guest today was JOHN DOE of X, they talked about the music scene, and Doe played some songs on his guitar....

June 9th

more glam rock today with SUZI QUATRO's 'DEVIL GATE DRIVE', and SWEET's 'HEARTBREAK TODAY'.......:)

June 13th

the BANGLES came over well at least 3 of them did for a nice chat and playing a bit, and he played the classic 'PATCHES' by CLARENCE CARTER as well :)

June 16th

The Raveonettes were the guests today, some highlights Steve spun were BLONDIE'I'm Always Touched By Your Presence, Dear', T.REX 'GROOVER, ROY WOOD's 'forever'

June 22nd

highlight was perhaps the closing # 'I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing!!!" by the NEW SEEKERS....

June 23rd

Lord help us, someone please put trailer trash billy bob thornton out of his misery as he did not belong on this show today, he brought in some steely dan or some hick trash to torture jonesy's listener's with..................Glen MATLOCK & Philistines 'White Knuckle' was played today

after playing bad songs the day before by people like the new pornagraphers today's guest was a GREAT musician MR. CHRIS SPEDDING who played on the majority of lps relased in the 70s as a studio musician, he is the king of studio musicians, they had a great chat reminscing about the old days , the VIBRATORS, and so on........a BIG improvement compared to the previous days :)

SO WhaT IS WRONG WITH INDIE 103.1 ? 2 THINGS

- 1 IS THAT MANY PEOPLE ALWAYS GET 3 SECONDS OF INTERFERENCE WHEN LISTENING AND THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE SHOW, AND ONE CANNOT HEAR WHAT IS BEING SAID, AND SOMETIMES THESE DUMB ASS TRUCKERS COME ON AND SAY 10 4 GOOD BUDDY AND U CAN HEAR THEIR POINTLESS CHATTER OFTEN DURING THE SHOW

FUCK OFF, YOU ARE AN IDIOT !! HEY BARRETT you and fellow loser TOM LEYKISS should get together, you WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER....( in all fairness we should say he does have good musical taste in playing some good cuts, but it's his personality that comes thru his voice which makes people ill )

writeup sent in by ALAN MERRILL, an old friend of Jonesy's ~

MERRILL -I knew the Pistols right at the start. My upstairs neighbor in Notting Hill gate 1975 was Cheryl Newton worked at Malcolm McLaren's 's shop, Sex. She knocked on my door and told me that Malcolm wantedto meet with me to pick my brains about starting a band and what the procedure was. Malcolm invited me (and the other Arrows came along) to one of the Sex Pistols first shows, which was at a strip club in London's Soho. This is documented in the book "England's Dreaming" by John Savage, I mean that The Arrows were there. So many people are skeptical. The truth is always better.

It was a tiny place, this strip club. Glen Matlock was on bass. Sid was in the audience, not yet in the band. I always liked him, he was part of Malcolm's entourage. Steve Jones and Paul Cook both played really well, I thought. Solid as a rock, the two of them. I felt that Glen overplayed, and might be trying too hard. Johnny Rotten couldn't sing, but that was the whole point. It you didn't get that screaming nuance, you were lost to the entire concept of what was the Pistols.

70s invasion management - YOU KNOW JONESY HAS BEEN PLAYING YOUR MUSIC - ARROWS, VODKA COLLINS , etc.

MERRILL - I know him from mid 70s London, before the Pistols were famous. That would explain him playing my records. He's a friend.

70s invasion management -

GREAT TO HEAR, HE's ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT INSTRUMENTS HE RIPPED OFF FROM PEOPLE IN THE PAST, AND THESE DAYS THEY LAUGH WHEN HE BRINGS UP THE FACT HE RIPPED THEM OFF YRS AGO......DID HE EVER RIP U OFF TOO ? :)

MERRILL -No, Steve Jones never ripped me off. He liked me. The Sex Pistols did borrow the riff from Arrows "Touch too much" though. Sid and Steve both liked the Arrows.
