no fading yet, they are
waving from the familiar branches
of a tree that has lived
for decades of years. Family tree
watches new buds born every spring
its babies growing and maturing
into healthy, vibrant adult leaves
then exploding into fiery celebration before surrendering
to the wind that takes them
on their final journey
to unknown destinations.
