The devil summoned his helper and said,
"Remember, this is an important mission!"
The helper frowned in confusion and insisted,
"Can You give me a name or a description?
Where do I look? Who am I to find?"
The cruel and impatient devil screeched,
"You fool, you idiot! Are you blind?"
Rolling his eyes, the devil reached
for his book of notes and slapped the demon
on the head, "No matter how ignorant you seem,
Trail the girl who smiles despite her pain!
Her frown, her dismay, her defeat is our gain!"
And so, with nothing but evil plans
and eventual reward in mind
The demon began the search of the lands
Eager for a successful find.
Yet his prey he could not see!
He grumbled and sighed
And kicked a volcano impatiently.
His anger flowed down the sides
Like lava. He glared upward
where the playful clouds did abide
And when saw her, and her voice he heard
she was spotlighted by golden rays of light.
Warm, protective, gentle beams encased
her as if she were a beautiful jewel so rare
The demon grunted as the land he laid waste
He needed to make her fall - down, down in despair.
Something to distract her from the heights of joy
and the love all around. He planned a mighty scare-
The demon shot a cold silver arrow at the white cloud,
The white faded to gray, angrily raced across the sky
Bumping into other clouds impact and the commotion loud
Soon the clouds banded together and seemed to comply
Cold, fast and furious raindrops began pelting the expectant demon
As he shielded his eyes from the storm and fought to see her fall
But when he saw her seated and secure through the storm, steam
Came out his nose and ears and he gave a most furious call!
All to no avail, and when the storm was spent,
the clouds parted
Respectfully.
Strong golden rays split through the last haze of angry gray
She smiled and he could hear her praise; he was suddenly fearful-hearted
As he paused, and listened to the powerful Almighty God say,
"When will you learn, how can I make you see?
You think you can conquer, you think you can win,
But your evil, self-serving victory is not meant to be
You see, she loves me, and when true love does begin...
I always win!"
