Close Combat Terrain Gradient Viewer V1.0.0

Creates solid and semi opaque (Alpha) grey scale elevation maps for close combat 2,3 and 4 overviews.

Requires the original Game CD's and also, each game to be fully installed.

Options:

Sea Level, adjusts the colors based on the actual height of the map.

Relative, adjust the colors relative to the lowest and highest points of the map.

Properties, allows the user to adjust the start and end range for relative semi opaque grey scales.

Undo, will restore the map to the original loaded at the start of the current session.

Restore from CD, will load the original map image if you want to clear any changes.
Please note you will have to save the Map , before the changes will take effect.

File Options:

Save File, will save current map to CC directory on your hard drive.

Results:

Close Combat II maps are base on 40x40 pixel elevation data, hence the larger squares.

Close Combat III and IV are based on 10x10 pixel elevation data.

Custom maps for CC3 and CC4, may or may not have CC2 style (40x40) elevation (depends if
original elevation was based on a default CC3 or CC4 map data).

Use the properties to adjust grey scale for semi opaque gradients. On maps with rivers and
high hills the gradient works ok. The rivers are black and the mountain tops are unchanged.
For maps like Kursk3 in CC3, the lowest points are bland featureless terrain. To avoid this
terrain being hidden, adjust the grey scale to give less shading at the lower end of the
scale.

CC2 maps are based on the terrain of Holland, there may not be much to look at.

Disclaimer:

The semi opaque grey scales are slow, I have to change each pixels RGB values with a
calculated percentage. Until I work out how to change the brightness of blocks of
pixels, it will have to do.

This is a experiment, and the methods used are quite simple. Let me know if there is anything
you would like to see included in later versions.
