German submarine IIA
U-1: she went missing during April 1940.
The type IIB was a small coastal sub based on the
1933 boat"Vesikko" from Finland.
It was nickname "canoe" because of its looks as well
as from its lively charesteristics when surfaced.
The only six u-boats of this type (U-1 till U-6) were built between 1934 and 1935.
