Chapter I


While rehearsing the Gemüsesang from the third act of Stacheldraht's Die Dicke Küh, Mademoiselle Dinde discovered a gloriously blooming poinsetta in her private chambers.

"My, what a gloriously blooming poinsetta," said Madamoiselle Dinde. "I do wish it would stop raining."
"And I wonder who would take a care to send such a gloriously blooming poinsetta," she added.

Also, it was 1879.
