Wednesday 10/25/00

Okay, two months before Christmas. So I got up this morning and went to see Frau Bell in order to be advised so that I could be in classes next semester. I won't be taking any classes that are taught in German, so instead I'll probably be sitting in on a class that is taught in German. And now it can be told: I have never felt more stupid in my life than I do now. I have only barely learned to speak German even though I now spend two to three hours per day trying desperately and often to no avail to learn, it is only with the greatest of difficulties that I can begin to understand the philosophy texts that I read and I'm beginning to suspect that I haven't learned anything while in college.

That said, I visited Frau Bell, which, as always, was delightful. She was once a Nazi. Her dad worked for the NSDAP as an engineer. I think that's awesome.

I went to Metaphysics and listened to Smedley and some other guy who is blond and has long hair deny that divine foreknowledge did not imply inescapable necessity. Which was just dumb.

Then I went to the Business Library and spent the entire afternoon doing homework. I didn't speak a word for almost six hours. It was great. I didn't have to listen to anything stupid, except the stupid things inside my head, which weren't many since most of my head was occupied doing homework. Truly a great afternoon.

Then I rented The Godfather and spent some of the night watching the first tape of it. Sometime in the middle of the viewing, Matt Stewart came downstairs and we had a read-through of a play we're going to present in about a month. I've got to grow some more hair, because I'm supposed to portray a gameshow host.

Later, I finished watching The Godfather and went to bed.
